The morning after, I wake up in Tom's arms, feeling so perfectly happy and content. All of the doubts and worries we both seemed to have once had faded away into a distant memory.He smiles when he finally opens his eyes and catches me looking at him. I know he's just as satisfied as I am right now after last night's love making.
"Good morning".
"Move in with me?" is the first thing he says.
"What?"
"I'm asking you to move in with me," he laughs.
"Are you being serious right now?"
"You said it yourself, that you wanted to move out of your apartment when you could afford to anyway. So why not move in with me?"
"It's a bit too much too soon, don't you think? What about when Hannah comes home for Christmas break?"
"She can stay with us. We can decorate the spare room however she likes it so we can all spend Christmas together".
"I don't know. We've haven't even known each other that long".
"Just promise me that you'll at least think about it? Theres plenty of time before Hannah goes to university".
Would it really be such a bad idea? I could move in with the man I love, be closer to work and save a lot of money. It's almost too good to be true.
I feel like my life has been and unfinished puzzle for all these years up until now, and the pieces are finally starting to fall into place.
"I love you, Tom".
"I love you too".
Screw the morning breath, I can't help but give him a kiss.
"We've still got a few hours left. How about we go for a walk along the cliffs today before we go home?"
"Sounds high up and scary".
"You aren't afraid of heights as well as the water are you?"
"Cheeky bastard!" I playfully shove him off the bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Stop it!" I scream when he tries to take me closer to the edge so we can look down into the water. He had no chance.
I honestly don't know which terrifies me more, the height or the thought of the water violently crashing against the rocks below us.
"Sorry. I was only messing with you," he chuckles.
"That wasn't funny".
"It's really beautiful out here. We should move to the coast when I retire".
There he goes, hinting away and hoping I'll give him an answer sooner. It's quite sweet.
"You really aren't letting this go anytime soon, are you?"
"Never".
He was definitely determined, I'll give him that. I definitely wasn't rushing to make a decision about moving in with him until I'd had more time to think about it seriously.
"You do know that's one step closer to me meeting your parents though, right?"
"I don't like the sound of that. My parents might send you running for the hills and ruin any chance we have".
"Are they really that bad?"
"You know they are," he sighs.
"You can't get rid of me that easily. Wild horses couldn't drag me away, or your crazy, emotionally neglectful, uptight parents".
