It was time for her report but Kenny was late, again. Kenny was supposed to be here a half-hour ago with the weekly report. His reports were the only way Alina knew what was happening, and now when she needed his stupid report most, he's late.
She was very angry with him. Alina even thought about killing the man once he was done with the report. It would be a pain getting away with that though, His Ugliness would probably get mad at her again. Just then a knock came at the door. "Come in," she said. A man came in, but it wasn't Kenny. It was Liam. "What do you want? I thought I told you to stay away for a while, we have to keep up appearances you know."
"I know, but the Master has given me another mission," he said. It was annoying how everyone was forced to call him 'Master.' Alina had vowed to never call him that and instead called him 'His Ugliness.' It's not like he could do anything about it.
"And what would that be?"
"Well since Kenny can't be here right now, I was sent in his place."
"And why can't he be here?"
"He was sent to detention."
Alina laughed harder than she had ever laughed in a long time. Just imagining Kenny in detention made her laugh. Liam looked at her with a blank expression. When she had stopped laughing she asked, "Is there any news about Aspen?" He nodded, "She was seen in a nearby village talking to someone."
"Talking to who and where," Alina demanded. "She was seen talking to an employee at the Tavern there," he said, "Then the witness saw her disappear into thin air." Somebody was traveling with her. It was annoying that she didn't know who, or where the hell she was going. Then a thought struck her, they could be going to The Midnight Sun, and by doing so they would be leading their enemy right to them.
Alina frowned and said, "Get the best trackers the castle has to track them down, tell them not to attack though. I want them to follow from a safe distance to see where they are going." Liam seemed to understand what she was thinking and he nodded. "Now go," she said, and he left.
