Jay teleported to Aspen and stared at the smoke cloud. They grabbed Aspen by the wrist and she grabbed Lexie. The woman they were watching grabbed a sword and handed it to them then ran off to see what was happening. All they knew was that Aspen wasn't safe here anymore. They ran past Gabe on the way to the elevator and he flew after them.
They had just reached the elevator when it exploded. Luckily they were far enough away to not get hit by any debris from the small explosion. They couldn't get out the way they had come and they couldn't waste time trying to find another exit.
Aspen tugged them back. "Jay, we can't just run away," she said, scared and exasperated. Jay could clearly see that there was no escape anyway, so they should probably figure out why and how this was happening.
"We have to help them!" Aspen continued. "Do you know what's happening?" asked Lexie. Aspen shook her head and Jay didn't respond because it was obvious The Midnight Sun was under attack, the real question was why this was happening. "It could be some sort of mock attack or drill," Lexie said hopefully.
Jay knew that it wasn't but they didn't say so. It would just cause them all to panic further. Lexie screamed in fright as another explosion sounded, blasting them with warm air and debris.
Jay had to think fast, chaos was exploding around them and even some small fires had started. Lots of people had probably started dying by now. "Get to somewhere safer," they said stolidly before teleporting away. Jay had to find out exactly what they were dealing with.
Jay teleported somewhere inside the smoke without being spotted. People with matching uniforms and weapons came from one of the tunnels. The hole on the roof of the cave was a diversion, they guessed Alina's organization was responsible for this because who else would be?
Jay teleported back to where they had found Aspen and Lexie before the attack and grabbed another sword, it wasn't the sharpest but it was good enough. Jay then went to find where everyone was hiding, it didn't take long because they hadn't moved at all from the spot they had left them. To be fair it had only been about a minute since they had left.
"You have to hide," they said with a note of urgency. They didn't move. "What's happening?" Aspen asked. "They are under attack," they said calmly, dragging Aspen and Lexie out of the way of another explosion. Jay kind of hoped Gabe had gotten burned but he flew out of the smoke, unscathed.
"Is that a real sword?" Lexie asked excitedly despite everything going on. They ignored her and took them into a side cave out of the way, Gabe followed. Maybe Vince or Lynn would know what to do in this situation, or maybe they would just leave them to die, but either way, I have to keep them all safe. "Stay here," Jay said before teleporting away again.
They had teleported into the center of the battlefield. Most didn't have weapons and were using whatever they could find to fight. Others, like the woman from earlier, had swords or knives. Dead bodies were falling left and right. Jay had decided they would help The Midnight Sun with the attack, so they joined the fight. Teleporting made killing a lot easier and less... messy.
There were so many members of the organization here, Jay wondered how they all got here in the first place. They helped anyone who needed it after they killed a few dozen people in the organization. Their clothes were probably really bloody, but that didn't really matter. Without their teleportation, they wouldn't have been able to kill nearly as many people. It was easy to defeat their enemies and soon The Midnight Sun had gained the upper hand.
They saw Glimmer fly down without Kiki, she must have tied her up somewhere. "Hi J.T, Having fun?" Glimmer asked with a hint of sarcasm. They ignored her and killed another member of the organization. "Wow J.T. you're brutal, you killed that girl just like your brother killed my master," Glimmer whinnied haughtily. This caught Jay off guard for a second, but they continued fighting as she joined the fray.
Jay was starting to relax but they should have known better because just then they heard an ear-splitting scream. It was unmistakably Aspen. They immediately teleported to where they had left them only to find Lexie on the ground soaked in blood with Aspen on the ground behind Gabe, unconscious. "Watch out!" Gabe warned, but before they could do anything someone had stabbed them.
Ow... that really hurt. Jay then teleported behind the attacker and stabbed them back with the sword, killing him. "Are you okay!?" Gabe asked, worried. Jay nodded. "Take Aspen and follow me," they ordered, picking up Lexie. She needed help immediately.
