Gabe couldn't believe they were ignoring him. He decided he would ignore them back. He wished he could turn off their voices, like putting them on mute. That would be cool. He was trying really hard to ignore them. It didn't seem like they cared though. Then out of nowhere, he heard Jay say "Assassin." That was when he tried to rejoin the conversation.
Aspen started laughing awkwardly. "What?" Gabe finally said. They both continued to ignore him. Fine, be like that! "Oh..." Aspen said when she noticed the look on Jay's face didn't change, and her awkward laugh died out. "What!? Something about an assassin?" Gabe asked again.
They both ignored him. Gabe had had just about enough of this and almost wanted to shout, "STOP IGNORING ME!" He didn't want to cause a big scene though.
Gabe pouted and crossed his arms. He decided to go somewhere else and see if they would act differently. Nothing changed though. They just kept talking like nothing happened.
He was still pouting when Princess Alina came up to him a few minutes later. Which was scary. "Your Royal Highness," he said sarcastically, "what brings a beautiful maiden such as yourself over here?"
"Well this is my party so why wouldn't I be here." She said ignoring the compliment. "I know it is your party, I asked why you came over here," he responded with a bit of an attitude. "Are you friends with that kid?" Alina sounded suspicious. "Jay? Didn't they make it clear that they thought you were ugly?" What he said clearly made her mad.
"Look, whatever your name is, I need you to keep an eye on my sister. She has a habit of getting herself into trouble and I don't trust Jay." Gabe tried to think of why Alina wouldn't trust Jay but couldn't find any reason, Jay was perfect after all.
"Why not?" he asked. "Why do I need to explain to you why I don't trust that kid?" she replied, frustrated. "If you're telling me to do something I need to know why." Alina glared at him, "Fine, don't do it, It's your funeral if something goes wrong."
She sashayed away, and Gabe went back to Aspen and Jay. "What did I miss?" he asked. Aspen looked sheepish as she said, "Sorry, I didn't realize you left." He gaped at her. How could they not notice that I was gone!? Gabe thought, crossing his arms.
"What did Alina say to you?" Jay asked. Gabe stopped crossing his arms and smirked. So you did notice me. "Well if you want to know..." Jay cut him off. "Get to the point."
"Rude... She told me that she doesn't trust you for some reason." Gabe responded. "Why...?" Aspen asked. "I don't know!" Gabe replied. "Oh, that makes sense," Jay answered. What does that mean? Gabe thought, confused.
Jay let out a sigh. "I might as well tell you now." Gabe looked over at Aspen. She seemed confused, but she didn't say anything. "I was hired to kill you, I'm not going to though."
Why did you say that so casually!? Aspen was on the verge of tears. He patted her shoulder to comfort her. "Why would anyone want Aspen dead?" Gabe asked them. "Some fat blackmailer said Alina is jealous or something like that," they said. That doesn't really answer anything.
"Fat blackmailer?" Gabe asked. "Calling someone fat isn't very nice," Aspen chimed in. He knew that calling someone fat wasn't nice, but there were more important things to be worrying about, like the fact Alina hired Jay to kill Aspen.
