They had to get the princess out of here, fast. Jay had overheard a conversation between two guards loyal to Alina and found out that someone else would kill Princess Aspen if they didn't. They should have expected that but they still couldn't let it happen.
"Hurry up," Jay said. Aspen stood up groggily and asked, "Where are we going?" Jay had a place in mind but they couldn't say where, just in case someone might be listening. "Away from here," they said, sliding a long coat over her to hide her wings. "Grab whatever you need."
Aspen seemed confused but then she got a bag and delicately slid a dress into it. She picked a tiara off its pedestal and placed it on her head. She got some flats from her closet and a pair of pants that were hidden in the back. She grabbed her phone and a charger then ran over to her vanity. There she took a hairbrush and a few other items, then ran back to the window.
"I can get us out, the gate is closed so you will have to ride on my back," Gabe said. "I'll teleport then," they said in response. Gabe nodded then jumped out the window of Aspen's room. They both went to the window and saw Gabe flying in place. "Hop on my back," he called. Jay decided to trust him with the princess. "Don't drop her." Gabe nodded, and Aspen climbed onto his back.
Jay teleported to the forest on the other side and Gabe came shortly after with Aspen still on his back. "Where are we going?" Gabe asked. Aspen answered before they could say anything, "We could go to the Midnight Sun."
"What's that?" Gabe asked. "It's a group that helps my mother with matters that can't be solved out in the open," she replied. That is the stupidest name I've ever heard. Jay thought to themself.
Gabe pulled out his phone. "Where are we any- whaa!" Gabe flew right into a tree and dropped his phone in the process. Aspen fell off his back but Jay caught her. Gabe fell to the ground with a thud but he got up and went back to find his phone, not even stopping to ask if Aspen was okay. He found the phone but it didn't turn on.
Gabe dropping his phone was one of the most hilarious things Jay had seen in their entire life. However, they didn't show any outward signs that they thought it was funny, and they wouldn't make the mistake of trusting him again.
They had stopped to rest for a bit in a small clearing, and Aspen lay down under a tree, quickly falling asleep. Jay pulled out their phone and looked at the GPS to see where they were. They had gotten a new phone after they ran away with the money they had stolen from their parents.
Jay put it away after a while and looked at Gabe, who was still awake. They forgot that he was there because he didn't annoy, or talk to them. Probably because he was mourning the loss of his phone.
Jay picked up Aspen, not wanting to wake her, and started walking into the trees. They didn't know how to find the Midnight Sun, but they knew of a place where they could all hide for now.
Gabe followed them and asked why they were walking instead of flying. He talked on and on, asking so many questions that Jay would rather be deaf. Jay didn't respond and tried to ignore him.
It was almost morning by the time they reached the old house. They had found it abandoned after they ran away. They would have used their teleportation to get there but they could only teleport themself. It also had a restriction, they could only teleport to anywhere within a 10-mile range. Gabe also couldn't fly there while carrying Aspen because Gabe wouldn't be able to see the house and, Jay didn't trust him to carry Aspen safely.
Jay walked inside and Gabe followed, quiet for the first time since they had started walking. They lay Aspen on their couch and went to the fridge. There wasn't much food but until now they were only feeding themself.
Jay was surprised that even with how loud Gabe was Aspen hadn't woken up once through the entire walk there. They turned away from the fridge with two bowls of salad in their hands. Gabe reached for one, but Jay pulled it away from him. They set the bowls on the table and slapped Gabe's hand every time he tried to grab it.
Jay ate and stared at their phone as Gabe watched over their shoulder. "What are you doing?" Jay ignored him. Gabe tried to touch their phone but Jay slapped his hand out of the way again.
After a while, Gabe went outside. It wasn't two minutes later that Jay heard screaming. It was Gabe of course. They didn't want to know what he had gotten himself into, his scream was so loud it practically made them deaf; now they knew that they had to be careful what they wished for. Jay was sure it had woken Aspen too.Gabe was really bored. It was fun to mess with Jay but that got old real fast. Gabe was probably bruised now, and since he couldn't sleep he decided to go for a walk. He hadn't even been walking for two minutes when he ran straight into someone, and Gabe fell to the ground.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" Gabe said. He then looked to see who he walked into. It was a demon looking down at him. Gabe had never screamed so loud, in his entire life. He ran full speed to get away from the demon. Even though the demon was hot, he didn't want to die.
Slamming into the door to get it open, Gabe ran back inside the house screaming, "DEMON!" He closed the door and barricaded it with all the furniture available.
At some point in his mad dash around the house, he had woken up Aspen. She was sitting up on the couch he had moved and was looking at him like he was crazy. "Why would there be a demon so close to the castle? We should warn my parents!" Then she looked around, seeming to have just noticed where they were.
"What is this place? And how did we get here?" she asked. Gabe was too frantic to explain anything to her, and before Jay could say anything, if they were going to at all, there was a knock on the door.Uploaded: August 29, 2021
