In the awkward days that Azalea had Xavier's company alone, it felt very... weird.

The gnomes made the most delicious food she'd ever eaten, and kept the house immaculate (not that they made any messes anyway). He mostly kept to himself, and she would sometimes see him helping the gnomes outside or picking fruits from the orchard near the mansion.

On the fourth day they were told that they would soon have more company. Azalea did not expect kids, though. The twins that moved in with them were cute, but a handful. They had champagne blond hair and an endless amount of energy stored up in their small bodies. Apparently they were Darek's kids, and they could not, would not be separated. They even turned down separate rooms, saying that they were more used to sharing a bedroom and that it would feel less like home if they split up.

Xavier was kind to them and showed them around, baking a lot of elven treats and snacks. When they met her they nicknamed her Aza and talked so much she thought she would pass out.

They even found her leftover paint cans and made a little mess in the office. She liked the kids of course, but sometimes their antics could really piss her off sometimes.

She was helping Xaiver clean up a shattered vase that broke in the middle of Liam and Lena's butterblast fight when the front door opened.

"-is a well-known business icon."

A gnome was accompanying a blonde boy with olive skin who looked a bit older than her.

"Xavier, Azalea, this is Luke. He was just telling me about his father."
Xavier smiled. Azalea waved. The boy studied them for a moment, then turned to her.

"What's that on your finger?"

She rubbed it and shrugged.

"Burned myself while cooking. It happens all the time." He snatched her hand and inspected it, then narrowed his eyes on her.

"That's a chemical burn. It looks like it could've been caused by a mixture of poison and venom, but I can't be sure. It needs treatment."

She tugged her hand out of his grip and shrugged. "It doesn't hurt that much. It's fine."

The gnome left and Luke's shoulders immediately slumped. He shook off his shoes and sank into an armchair, and Azalea could smell the stench of his socks.
They were probably once white, but now they were a murky grayish-yellow. She scrunched her nose and turned to Xaiver. He held a patient smile and raised his eyebrows weirdly, as if to say, can you get a load of this guy? But not really that annoyed or mean.

"Uh- we're going to finish what we were doing. I'll call down Liam and Lena to meet you." She explained. He said nothing, just rolled his head back in exhaustion. "Or not. Your bedroom is the first one on the right."
