Chapter one

I wake up to some really loud noise coming from Kyle's room. I realize it's just his really annoying music. Kyle is my twin brother we are best friends most times. When we get talking about May 5th we start to argue. Our birthday is May 1st only a week away we will turn 18 and 18 is huge in our society we will be torn away from our families to do what? I need answers. I look out my window and see at least 15 people walking and talking as they walk up and down the streets I've come to love it here. Well most of it anyway. The rules and regulations they have are horrible so corrupt. Like my dad was what we would call a wealthy man. He owned a company but the government wouldn't even allow him to chose how worked for him. I want to know why the government is like this? I've heard it wasn't always this way. That long ago we were free and allowed to stay with our families and chose where and what we worked for. I want to know. May 5th is when they will take us away I don't even know if I'll stay with Kyle when we leave. I look down at my bed I make it so my mom doesn't get mad I clean up a few things in my room. Then I enter my bathroom we aren't allowed to wear makeup but I stole some what I think is blush from one the government people but they will never even notice it's gone they can get and have whatever they want. I but my dirty blonde hair up in a messy bun like I normally do I wouldn't say I'm pretty I'd say I look like the average 17 year old not pretty but not to ugly.

The government shut down my dad's business! So now we don't have a whole lot of money and dad can't find a job he has to wait for the government to place him in a job but the government hates my father I wonder way everyday. My mom has a small job teaching 7th grade at Oakville Middle School she doesn't make enough to feed 3 kids and my father. But somehow my parents make it work with what little food we have. I hear someone coming up the stairs I put the make up back under a lose floor board with a couple twenties I keep just incase my parents need it. My mom enters the room. "Oh sorry sweetie I didn't mean to walk in on you." She says. "It's fine mom I was just getting dressed." I didn't have time to fully rub the makeup in I hope she doesn't notice. "Well I was going to wake you for breakfast Alexis and Kyle made pancakes!" She says. "Oh yum thanks mom." I say. Oh yeah Alexis that is my younger sister she is only 8 years old then Kyle and I. "Ok see you downstairs sweetie." She says as she leaves my room. Pheww she didn't notice the make up. I rub the make up in finish getting dressed in a blue and white strip T-shirt and jeans and grab a black sweatshirt. It was Justin's old sweatshirt. Justin was sent away 3 years ago and we just got news he died where ever they held him. I don't know why but I want to and I will find out.

I head downstairs where I see my mom and dad talking weather at the table eating pancakes well Kyle and Alexis just sit down to eat talking about some math quiz Alexis is having problems with. I'm older then Kyle by 2 minutes but he is like a big brother to me. For Alexis he is the sweetest older brother there could ever be. "Good Morning sweetie! How'd you sleep?" Says my dad looking up from the news paper. "Great!" I say back smiling. I was lying I couldn't sleep I needed answers about Justin. "I made chocolate chip pancakes for you. Your favorite." Says little Alexis. "Oh thank you Lexi aren't you the sweetest!" Lexi is her nickname I gave her mom doesn't like it very much I don't know why though. "Sit next to me please Elizabeth!" Lexi says with a frown and puppy dog eyes. "Okay I will Lexi." I say smiling back which of course gets her to smile. Her smile is the cutest thing with her little brunette curls. "Yayyyyy thank you Lizzy" she says. After we eat we get in the car and my mom drops Kyle and I off "Bye mom love you!" we both say at the same time. "Love you guys behave." she says as she pulls away she teaches at Lexi's school but Lexi is only in 3rd grade so she doesn't see my mom that much at school.
