I was always welcome at the Tomlinson home. Having known Louis since I was 2 and he was 4, we were best friends. Our mums were close as well, and we lived in the same neighborhood. His house was my haven. When my parents fought, when my dad came home drunk and bitter, when my mom took her anger out by yelling at me, I would slip out and go to his house. I lost my confidant, and couldn’t escape my temperamental mum. I couldn’t stand to be around her anymore, and when I noticed something off about myself, I couldn’t bring myself to tell her. Louis always said my stubbornness was going to land me in deep trouble one day.
I never thought that refusing to tell my mom something would end up as breast cancer.
