Jennie's POV

"Shhh... Don't be noisy, Kai—"

I couldn't even finish my sentence when he suddenly kissed me. Even drunk, his lips crashed against mine with desperation. He lifted me bridal-style, carrying me with surprising steadiness for someone reeking of alcohol. Maybe he was sobering up now... or maybe not.

He laid me on the sofa, and from there, everything blurred. His touch, his lips, the weight of him pressing down on me. I closed my eyes, surrendering. By the time it was over, I was exhausted. We ended up in the master bedroom, and I forced myself to sleep beside him.

Lisa's POV

"Good morning."

"Good morning. Let's go?"

It wasn't really morning — more like midnight — but Somi and I sat on a bench, letting the night air wash over us. We talked about everything: our lives, our worries, and of course, what happened between me and Jennie.
I trusted Somi. I always had. That's why I could tell her the truth without fear.

"You've always been stupid, Lisa," she teased, laughing as if the pain I confessed was a funny story.

I glared at her playfully, and she only laughed harder.

"Well, perks of being a Manoban," I sighed, shaking my head.

Jennie's POV

It was already 3AM when everything ended. Kai had passed out right away, but I knew I couldn't let him stay. If Lisa came home suddenly and saw him here, it would be over. Worse, Liam was alone — no one watching him. I couldn't risk it.

So I drove, Kai sleeping in the passenger seat. But then, out of the corner of my eye, something caught my attention.

Lisa's car.

My heart stopped. She was parked on the side of the road... with a woman next to her.

What the hell? I thought she was at a resort. So she was cheating on me too? How long has she been doing this? Years?

Why did I care? I had done the same to her.

Still, my chest ached as I parked near them, watching from a distance. Lisa and the woman went inside a 7/11. I froze when the stranger reached out and held Lisa's hand.

So that's how it is. We're both playing the same dirty game. What a plot twist.

Minutes later, they came out with bags of drinks and walked straight into a hotel nearby. My stomach twisted.

"Baby..."

I flinched. Kai's groggy voice broke my focus.

"What the fuck, Kai?!" I snapped, startled. My head was spinning too much from what I'd just seen.

He rubbed his eyes. "What's wrong? Where are we?"

"I'm taking you home before Lisa sees you."

"Tsk. Why do you even care? You're already cheating on her, Jen. Don't act like you're the victim here."

His words stung. Kai never liked Lisa. He was homophobic, never hid it. But he gave me everything I wanted — gifts, attention, comfort. That's why I fell for him.

"I don't want any trouble right now, Kai. Please, just let me take you home. I saw—"

"I'll drive," he interrupted, finally sober enough to take the wheel.

As we switched seats, he glanced at me, serious. "When are you going to break up with her? She's not right for you."

"At the right time," I muttered.

He clenched the wheel tighter. "Come with me, Jennie. I love you. Let's get married, stay away from all this. Divorce her. I'll give you everything she can't. I'll even treat Liam as my own. I'll spoil him. We can have our own child. Just choose me."

I looked at him, torn. "I love you too, but—"

He cut me off sharply. "No, Jennie. You're just confused. You don't want to hurt her, but in the end, she'll still get hurt because you're with me. You love me, too. Why give me up if you love her at the same time? Am I just... half of your heart?"

His words stabbed deeper than I wanted to admit.

"I'm begging you, Kai. Not now. I haven't slept in days. Stop, or I'll get out of the car right here."

He sighed. "Fine. I'll take you home. Otherwise, she might get angry."

[FLASHBACK]

"I LIKE YOU, RUBY JANNE!!!"
Kai's voice echoed across the schoolyard, loud enough for every classmate to hear. Whispers spread like wildfire. I wanted to crawl into the ground, embarrassed, but also secretly thrilled.

Love letters. Teddy bears. Chocolates. Flowers. That was Kai. He was the perfect gentleman, the dream boy every girl wanted. And he wanted me.
But then, there was Lisa.

"Tsk."

"What's with the frown, Lili?" I asked, noticing her sulking as she slammed her bag on the desk.

"Nothing," she muttered sarcastically.

"Are you... jealous?"

"WHAT?! No. I don't like you."

Her words cut deeper than I expected. She didn't have feelings for me. But I did for her. They always said there were plenty of men waiting for me. Maybe Lisa and I just weren't meant to be.

Lisa's POV

Inside 7/11, Somi grabbed three beers and two bottles of wine.

"Hey, what do you even want? Beer or wine?" I teased, watching her hands full.

"You look stupid holding all that. Beer for me." She smirked, dumping bottles into my arms.

"You're rich, Lis. Please, just buy this for me," she joked, and I rolled my eyes, laughing despite myself.

Somi's POV

While Lisa and I laughed outside 7/11, I noticed something. A car. Someone watching us.

Jennie Kim.

Lisa's wife.

My heart jumped, but I kept my face calm. I immediately slipped my hand into Lisa's and tugged her inside the store. Better to let Jennie see something she'd never forget.

I'm Somi Jeon. Lisa's best friend... and her first love. First love never dies, right? Maybe that's why I never did.

Maybe that's why I'm here — because I'm the real hero of this story.

"Come on, Somi, you're like a ghost standing there." Lisa nudged me.

Jennie's car was still parked in the same spot when we came out. My heart raced, but I leaned casually against Lisa, resting my hand on her shoulder.

"My foot hurts, Lisa," I whined softly.

"I'll carry you," she teased.

"Oh, stop making fun of me!" I laughed.

"Hey, it's just a joke."

"It doesn't feel like a joke, Lis. Come on."

And before I knew it, she really picked me up, bridal-style, while I held the bag of drinks in my arms.
