Chapter 16

Jane's POV

"Jaaaaane, Manobannnn!" Blake
shouted.

"Ugh, Blake, why Manoban?" Alia asked.

"Because her last name is Manoban?"

"Even though they're getting a divorce soon, I know you're making Jane uncomfortable, so stop it."

"Okay, Ali, good morning Kim. You need to get ready because today we're going to the company to introduce you as a model or artist. So go take a shower, and I've already ordered breakfast for us here. I'll eat when I get back."

"That's a long speech, Blake. Am I going with you?"

"Come with us so you can be Jane's manager. What did you expect?" Blake said grumpily.

(Truth is, they both hate each other. Even though I'm friends with both of them, they literally want to kill each other. I'm the only one who stops them when things get physical. I don't even know why Blake is so mad at Alia, and the same goes for Alia with him. LOL.)

"Can you two stop already? I'm going to get up and take a shower. Just wait for me, okay?" I said, getting out of bed.

Today was the day I was going to be introduced to the entire company. Even though I was nervous, I was sure about my decision to enter showbiz, right?

"Alia, you need to stay by Jane's side because you're her manager. I'll give you her schedule and routines she needs to follow. She needs a makeover because her photoshoot is coming up, and it wouldn't look good if she's wearing old clothes, right?" Blake instructed.

"Yes, sir. And what about her day off?" Alia asked.

"We don't know yet. As soon as you two step into the company, you need to start working. Jane, you're going to be introduced to the world, so don't be scared. Get used to it, because this is your new life now."

"Isn't there a second opinion to just go back?"

"NO."
//FAST FORWARD//

"Alia, I'm scared," Jane said.

"I am too, dummy," Alia responded.

"I didn't expect to be introduced this soon," Jane said.

"Even I'm your manager, okay?" Alia teased.

"Let's go already. Stop talking so much!" Blake said.

At the Company

"Sir, good morning." "Good morning, boss." "Good morning."

"Everyone, please give a warm welcome to Jane Kim!" Blake continued, his tone almost mechanical as he gestured to me, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
I stepped forward, feeling the weight of all their eyes on me, the piercing stares of people I had never met. This was supposed to be the moment of my big debut, but all I could feel was the cold sweat beading on my skin and the rapid beating of my heart. I could barely remember what I was supposed to say.

"Hi," I said, my voice wavering slightly, "I'm Jane Kim. I used to live in Japan."

I gave a weak smile, trying my best to look confident. The room was silent for a beat, and then, like a delayed response, a few claps rang out. I could feel the awkwardness hanging in the air, thick as fog.

Blake shot me an irritated look as if to say, That's it? You could've said more.

Show them something. But I couldn't. I wasn't ready for any of this. I hadn't even had time to process what was happening—one minute, I was living a quiet life, and now I was being thrust into the spotlight like this.
