CHAPTER 8

"Pardon me. Is there anyone here who isn't a member of a club?" I overheard a question from the other side of the door. "I'm not sure, I'll try and ask them." Someone responded. "Everyone! Is there anyone here who isn't a member of a club?" Our class rep inquired. Like everyone else, I turned to face him and noticed that person standing alongside him. "Sunbeam?" I muttered. "It's you! Hello." I waved back as he greeted me. I got up from my seat and approached him. "Were you the one who inquired about clubs?" I wonder. "Yes! My name is Hinata Shoyo." He made a stiff introduction. "I am Y/n. Hinata-kun, it's a pleasure to meet you." I grinned. "But why are you looking for students who aren't in any clubs?" I inquired. "Our manager, Shimizu-senpai, is looking for an assistant manager to aid her with the management duties." He gave an explanation. "You don't have a club, Y/n? Aren't you in the girls' volleyball club?" Our class rep asked me. "For the time being, we have disbanded." I responded. "Ah! So, you're searching for clubs to join?" Sunbeam inquired, and I nodded, after which he handed me a piece of paper to fill out.

"Hinata-kun." I spoke as I returned the completed form to him. "Can you tell me why you were at Shiratorizawa the other day?" He immediately froze, as if he'd been caught. "Um, Kageyama and I did some recon at Shiratorizawa," He rubbed his neck and averted his sight from mine. "Kageyama?" I asked. "He's our setter. You know, the scary-looking guy." He tried to mimic him. "Oh, the setter you did that quick attack with." He enthusiastically nodded. "You guys were incredible. That was a fantastic attack." I chuckled when he got all flustered and shy with my compliments. "I'm not going to keep you any longer. You must be planning on finding more recruits." I stated. He thanked me and left.

"Y/n! Yachi-san! Someone's here for you." When I turned to face the doorway, I noticed the manager of the boys' volleyball club. "Sana, I'll see you tomorrow. Take care on your way back home." I went to Yachi-san after picking up my bag. "I didn't know you applied for manager of the boys' volleyball club, Yachi-san." She was taken aback when I approached her. "Yes!" She squeaked. How adorable! "Let's get going. Shimizu-senpai is waiting." She got her things, then we proceeded to where Shimizu-senpai was waiting. "Hello, Shimizu-senpai," I gave her a kind greeting. "Hello, senpai," Yachi-san stuttered. "Yachi-san, you don't have to be nervous. Senpai doesn't bite." Me and senpai both giggled. "We should go. The training is about to begin." Senpai led us to the gym, where she would introduce us to the guys.

"I'm happy you guys decided to give this a try. I'm already in my third year, and my responsibilities as a student have doubled, so I'm really grateful to you guys." Shimizu-senpai expressed her gratitude to us. "I'm pleased we were able to relieve some of your worries, senpai." Yachi-san agreed with my statement. "We've arrived. I'll go first, so please wait a moment." Senpai opened the doors, attracting the guys' attention. "You found new members." Hinata-kun cheered. Yachi-san's body began to quiver as a result of the attention, so I placed a soothing hand on her shoulder. It made her feel a little less nervous.

"Guys, they're trying out as our new managers." We were introduced by Shimizu-senpai. "My name is Yachi Hitoka." Yachi-san nervously introduced herself. "Hello, we meet again. My name is Y/n." I gave them a friendly wave. "Really? That's incredible." Angel-senpai smiled. "Shimizu-senpai, I knew you could do it." Sunbeam remarked. "Are you guys first-year students?" Yachi-san got terrified when a senpai approached. "Yes. Sir, we're in class 5!" She squeaked. We then both directed our gazes in the same direction where we felt an intense gaze, and it was there that angel-senpai, buzz cut-senpai, and short-senpai were standing. "Hey, staring at them is impolite." Angel-senpai pulled them aside and covered their eyes.
