"Titans?" You say, "But there hasn't been any Titans around these walls in years."

Levi doesn't speak. In a second, he's out the door. In the next, the metal cords of his vertical maneuvering equipment guide him through the district swiftly. In a minute, he reaches the portcullis; the entrance of Shiganshina. And before anyone else makes it, the three Titans that claw at the latticed gate expire by his blades forged of ultrahard steel.

The Royal Government then summons for the commanders and captains of each division.

Blood orange bled through the sky as the blueness of day retreats to the other side of the earth. Hours pass and the darkness of night now welcomes the moon. You sit somewhere along the chemin de ronde with your back against the bricks of this wall-walk and with Sasha.

"I can't believe it..."

"I can." You say, "Saying they won't ever be back is a pipe dream."

The two of you continue to sit underneath the blanket of stars. It's quiet; nothing but the flames of these torch-lit sconces dance softly in the night.

The girl sighs, "I'm hungry..."

"Really?" You deadpan. Of course, to Sasha, the subject of food will always seem much more important than the man-eating giants, "We're talking about life and death and you're concerned about your stomach. And, you literally just ate."

"It's like you said." She shrugs, "This is our life. Plus Captain Levi always takes care of it."

"We can't always depend on him. And sometimes we won't be able to. Don't you want to be self-sufficient?"

"Easy for you to say. Someone like you doesn't need to worry—" The girl reaches into her uniform jacket. She pulls out a piece of dried-smoked meat, "—but me, I'm nothing compared to you or Mikasa."

"Yeah, not with that attitude." Your brows knit together, "When did you get that?"

Sasha's teeth rips the jerky in half. She's chews while she talks, "Before we got here."

"From where?"

Meat—mostly red meats—were (at times) a delicacy; hard to come by. Even if it's just dried beef sticks.

"Commander Pixis's desk."

"Sasha!"

"What?" She's unconcerned, "Don't worry. He didn't notice."

"I swear you're going to get into trouble one day and I won't be able to help you."

She doesn't answer, because she knows you're right. She finishes her snack.

"Hey, (Y/N)."

You hum.

"Why do you want to be apart of the Special Operations Squad so bad?"
