Entanglement

Chapter 10 

Annie slowly opened her eyes, her vision was blurry and unfocused as she could feel the pounding ache in her head. She looked awful, her eyes were bloodshot from crying and her tear stained face was pale and drained from a long night of sickness and heartbreak, she could hear the birds singing outside the window which her head was still rested against, she didn't even make it to the bedroom last night, she was still sat in the mess of roses and sick. Without a single thought she shut her eyes again, she wasn't ready to wake up and deal with the reality, she wanted just a few more minutes of the head clearing void that was sleep.

Her eyes fluttered open again as she heard a key turn in the latch of the door, she was too tired to move but she kept her eyes on the moving door handle as it turned. To no surprise when the door swung open she saw Mikasa standing there and she looked as messy as Annie did, her hair was out of place and dark circles sat underneath her eyes, her clothes looked like they had been put on in a hurry and Annie couldn't help but scowl at the visible marks on the base of her neck.

'Look who finally decided to come home' Mikasa greeted with a straight face as she walked over to Annie

'Hey' Annie stoically replied, her voice sounded weak and strained from the crying

'Is that all you have to say to me?!' Mikasa's tone sounded angry and hurt 'I was worried sick when you didn't come home that night, you didn't even bother sending me a text message telling me where you were and now you've just shown up out of the blue not explaining why theres puke and flowers all over the floor?! What the fuck is going on?!'

'Im really not in the mood for a lecture Mikasa, I'm going to bed' Annie yawned and stood up, she couldn't talk to her anymore, she couldn't even make eye contact with her without feeling her heart shatter even more.

'No you're not' Annie felt Mikasa's firm grip on her shoulder stopping her from moving 'I need you to cover for me in a meeting today'

'Do it yourself, I'm not feeling well'

'Whats going on with you Annie? You can talk to me, I'm not going to judge you'

'I'm just not feeling good, ok?!' Annie snapped pushing Mikasa's hand off of her shoulder

'Why are you being so pissy with me?'

'Sorry, I'm just tired'

'Why did you even come back? It would have been nice to have a heads up'

'I wish I didn't come home today' Annie scowled 'I wouldn't have had to experience your little walk of shame'

'Whats that supposed to mean?'

'You know what Mikasa? I didn't realise that when you told someone you loved them it was such a light thing for you' Annie attacked tracing the marks on Mikasa's neck with her fingers 'and don't give me that I got hit by a tennis ball bs because I've heard it all before'

'Oh is that why you're in such a bad mood? I was told someone called me last night, what did you want to say?'

'It doesn't matter, it was stupid'

Annie started to walk off to the bedroom, she didn't want to be around Mikasa anymore, knowing she loved her made this hurt even more, she didn't want to be in love if it meant she had to experience this pain.
