Chapter 16

Annie sat opposite Hitch in Hitch's large house, the light from the window seeping through as she pulled back the curtains lighting up the area where they were sitting. Annie sipped lightly on the fragrant fruit tea that Hitch had handed her, she looked so different coming back from her honeymoon, her hair looked longer and her skin was tanned and glowing from the sun she probably got from the exotic location she was lazing around in for weeks.

'It was so beautiful' Hitch gushed, her dimples prominent as she smiled 'at first when Jean suggested it I felt it would be a little too touristy but I was pleasantly surprised, I miss it so much'

'I'm sure its heaven compared to the city, we've been getting a lot of rain' Annie replied stoically listening to her rambling.

'You should come with me next time we go away, you'd love the beaches, Jean has already said we should go on holiday for longer during the summer, join us?'

'Nope, I burn easily'

'So are you going to your upstate mansion for summer as usual?'

'I think I'm going to stay here, I'll see what Mikasa wants'

'No offence but won't Mikasa be gone by summer time? I hear your dads not doing well'

'Oh. yeah probably'

'Which is why you should come on holiday with me and Jean, you'll be single by then so might as well have a fling with a foreign girl to celebrate'

'I don't want to be sun burnt third wheeling you and your husband' Annie furrowed her brow slowly stirring her tea, she appreciated the sentiment but the last thing she wanted to do was go on holiday with Hitch, especially since she'll probably be flooded with work.

'Come on Annie, as much as I love being married, its so boring, theres no drama, having you around will life my spirits'

'They'll be enough drama when forty year old Jean starts to bald and have an affair with a younger girl'

'Jean's a gentleman he'd never do anything like that' Hitch scowled 'he's nothing like my father or any of the older men we know'

'Mhm whatever you say'

'Speaking of drama I hear you're still with Mina, its going better than I expected' Hitch chimed as Annie flinched in guilt and discomfort 'wait. By the look on your face I can tell its not as good as I hear'

'I don't want to talk about it.'

'We're friends you can trust me and please I'm literally starved for some gossip, everyone I know is settling down, you're the only one I have left'

'Theres not much to tell' Annie sighed 'Me and Mina are still casual but its a bit difficult since I was hooking up with Mikasa on the side, don't worry I ended it with Mikasa and everything is fine now'

'Annie Leonhart you fucking whore' Hitch gasped 'how can you say that with a straight face?'

'Like I said its not a big deal' she lied, she didn't want to worry Hitch and overall the more she pretended like she didn't care the longer she could dissolve this guilt.

'And I thought you treated me bad, how could you do this to Mina? i've only been gone for a few weeks and without me you can't even make one good decision'

'I ended it, thats a good decision'

'It shouldn't have even happened in the first place'

'You don't need to lecture me on things I already know'

'Why did you end things with Mikasa?'

'Huh?'

'As in why did you choose Mina over her, we both know which one you actually love'
