“words shared over food and wine is the best way to know a person—”
Migyung's curious eyes wandered around, taking in the decor of the small, downtown ramen house. It was different than the typical ramen houses though, the interior modern yet somehow retro.
She liked the ambiance created by the amber lighting, hanging over the table she sat. The table was red and so were the pillars but it wasn't hard on the eyes when one looked at the cream coloured walls, a few quirky art pieces hanging on them. She also saw a drawing on the wall right in front of her, a simple black sketch of a boy band.
It brought forth a memory to her mind, a memory of her mother fan-girling over H.O.T. while the twins were busy raving about Super Junior; comparing both groups. Her mother had told her then, she was ready to ditch ballet and become a make-up artist if it meant she could meet her bias, Tony. But she didn't have to quit anything as they met at a cultural event. It was the same event where she met their father the first time. Another amazing story Migyung had enjoyed listening to when she was young.
Her eyes shifted again, landing on a lip-shaped telephone placed on the reception table that sat between the kitchen wall and the main dining area. She found it utterly cute, it was the type of thing one didn't see anymore but it was quite popular when her mother was in her 20's. That's when she knew, she had to bring her parents here someday.
"Here you go," she heard Hoseok's voice, just as a steaming bowl of noodles and clear soup was set in front of her. She thanked him and waited as he placed his own bowl on the table and a few side dishes.
"This place is really good, I love the decor," Migyung said appreciatively, taking a sip of her soup. Hoseok smiled and cocked his head in the direction of the kitchen. "Tell that to Sehee noona. It's her restaurant."
"I figured," she said. "The place does have a woman's touch. I love it." Just then a woman emerged from the kitchen, dressed in simple blue jeans, a thick coat thrown over her shoulder. She smiled brightly when she met her eyes, her dimples making her look prettier.
"I'm glad you like the place," the woman said walking towards them. "You are welcome here anytime you want. I couldn't make anything special for you guys but I hope you like it."
Hoseok turned then, smiling that megawatt heart-shaped smile at her. "Don't worry, noona, your food is always great. Are you leaving?" The woman, Sehee nodded. "I have too or Seokjin will surely kill me this time for being late. I'll lock up the front door and you can leave from the back door. It has a passcode, so you won't have to worry about returning the key."
Hoseok nodded in understanding as she left, telling them to enjoy the food. Migyung however was processing their interaction.
"Did she say Seokjin?" she asked with wide eyes. "Like, Seokjin, Jin from your band?" Hoseok nodded nonchalantly, slurping his noodles loudly.
