Chapter 12:

And here we go, One of the rare updates. . .

After assurance from me that I'd be okay in here with Felix, Dad headed outside to wait with my friends as Felix nervously sat down in front of me.

''Heh. . .I. . .Thought at first when you didn't show up to our meeting that you just decided to ditch me. . .Your friend. . .The boy one. . .Informed me you had been shot though. . .'' Felix whispered, Sounding overly concerned.

My heart clenched in sympathy for the sorrow he had no doubt felt thinking I had ditched him without a second thought.

''It's not my first time being shot. . .Just the first time I was shot in torso. . .'' I assured him when he seemed to choke up at the fact that I had been shot.

My words didn't have to effect I wanted them to have and just seemed to distress him more.

''You've been shot before?? What were you doing? Do you need help? Are you ensnared in some sort of bad situation?'' Felix asked worriedly, His ability to ask so many questions in such a short period of time was downright impressive.

I held my hands up in an attempt to calm him as he stared at me with a nauseating amount of concern, Worry and panic.

''Yes, I have been shot before, You do not want to know what I was doing, No I do not need help, I'd actually prefer if you don't get involved, And I'm not ensnared in a bad situation'' I answered, Trying to answer all of his rapid fire questions as best I could without giving anything away.

He was still concerned seeming, But he appeared calmer with the added information.

''You sure you don't need help? I can help well. . .My parents might be able to help'' Felix said, Moving to sit beside me again.

''Felix'' I said in warning only for him to actually take the hint and back off.

''I'm sorry. . .Sorry just. . .You sure?'' He questioned before I gave him a look, Causing him to hold his hands up in surrender.

''Okay okay. . .So. . .We were gonna talk before. . .You wanna talk now?'' Felix questioned, Resting his head in his hands and staring at me with an eagerness that could rival a puppy.

I arched an eyebrow before slowly inclining my head.

''Might I have the first words?'' I questioned when he was clearly about to go off about something or other if the eager energetic light in his eye was anything to go by.

''Oh. . .Oh! Sure sure! Sorry. . .I'm not really used to all of. . 'This' '' He said, Gesturing towards the space between us as he spoke.

Sighing, I shook my head, This wasn't going to be easy.

''I do not know. . .How to be in a relationship. . .I have never wanted one before. . .'' I started, Trying to phrase things as carefully as possible.

Still don't want one. . .

''That's okay! I don't know how to be in a relationship either! We can learn what it's like together!'' Felix chirped out, Seeming to cheer up.

I held back the suffering sigh that I could feel building up inside me.

''Right well. . .Let's not just. . .Jump right to a relationship. . .Let's just. . .Take the first step of being friends. . .Just friends'' I said, Realizing I couldn't just tell him I didn't want to be in a relationship with him.

He's so overly eager. . .Like an innocent little puppy. . .I can't just crush his spirit like that. . .

''Oh. . .Okay! I can do that! So we're friends and work our way up to boyfriends, Right?'' He questioned, His excitement only briefly faltering.

Oh honey no. . .

''Suuure. . .'' I said slowly, My tone clearly meaning 'No', However, He didn't take it that way.

Not really his fault. . .Not even remotely.

What was his fault, Was the hug that my 'acceptance' created.

I struggled to bite back a scream of pain as Felix wrapped me up in a hug.

My vision started to go black edges before I heard someone say something to the boy currently putting me in extreme agony.

Next thing I knew, Strong hands were holding me up while excuses were made to the other boy.

I hadn't even noticed that my eyes had closed until I slowly opened them, Tears making my vision all warped.

But through my blurred vision, I could see Bird holding me up while dad and my other two friends spun some story to convince Felix to leave without upsetting him.

Mia and Olivia would doing most of the talking while dad played the part of the human shield, Stopping Felix from getting a clear view of my pain.

''He's out of ear shot now'' Bird informed me as I rested my head on his shoulder.

With that in mind, I slowly let out a muffled whimper of pain.

Once I calmed down a bit more, Bird stopped supporting me, Letting me sit up on my own.

''Do I need to go get one of the nurses?'' He questioned to which I just shook my head.

''No, I just. . .Need a moment. . .'' I whispered as I closed my eyes again, Very sore now.

Ah pain. . .How I didn't miss you at all. . .Please fucking leave. . .

''. . .You know, All of us can't wait for you to get back. . .The uh. . .Gang doesn't really respect the rest of us and it's hell on earth to control them'' Olivia said as her and her girlfriend reentered the room I was staying in.

''No shit, They tried to ditch us when the police did a bust on one of our little protection operations'' Mia said eagerly as she entered the room, Flopping down dramatically onto the bed beside me.

Sighing, I dragged my hands down my face before nodding.

''Right. . .I'll deal with them as soon as I get back. . .Find those with the loosest loyalties and send them to me as soon as I get back'' I sighed out.

It's going to be a long few days. . .
