Ash is going to have an unpleasant meeting
---------------------------------------------------------------
As pleasant as this morning was, my entire day could not remain that way.
One of my day shift co-workers had gotten sick. . .Resulting in me getting called in four hours earlier than I was supposed to.
I didn't get to see Felix. . .I can text him and all but still. . .It's not quite the same. . .
However, I did still need the extra money that I'd get for coming in early. . .So here I was, behind the counter. . .Texting my boyfriend and paying the most minimal amount of attention to my job as possible.
What are they gonna do? Fire me? There's five of us total here and no one want to work at the gas station in the part of town that's being shot up every other week. . .
I'd at most get a 'stern talking to' from my manager tomorrow if he finds the time, but that was not nearly enough to stop me from asking my boyfriend how his day was and listening to him rant.
A small smile was on my face as I read his texts, imagining the faint angry flush that'd be on his face as he ranted about his classmates and how lazy his group partners were.
He's pretty when he's flushed with anger. . .And when he's happy. . .He's just pretty in general. . .
While I was texting him, someone entered the store, something that's happened multiple times now.
However, upon glancing up, I realized this person wasn't going to be like every other customer. . .
Because it was, of course, Chase.
He looked pissed.
Huh, guess he's already heard about what I did. . .
I slowly slipped my phone back into my pocket as he approached me, his eyes boring into me with so much anger and hate that a small fissure of fear shot up my spine, my heart starting to race.
''Can I help you officer?'' I asked, slowly backing away as Chase continued to advance at a steady but slow pace, his hands shaking faintly.
Not a good sign.
I was very much on guard when he finally spoke.
''Heard what you did today. . .'' He muttered, his voice oddly emotionless and cold.
Very bad sign. . .Gotta buy myself some time. . .
''Yeah? Can't believe you already heard I got a 100% on my last test, so kind of you to acknowledge it'' I slowly muttered, earning myself a scarily dark chuckle from the other man as he slowly herded me back towards a corner of the store the cameras couldn't see.
You know, now that I think about it. . .These past few times he hasn't been wearing his body cam. . .I still have my knife on me if worst comes to worst. . .
As he backed me closer to the corner, I finally spotted a small opening I could dash through and use to escape to the back. . .Only issue. . .It's right within his reach.
If I move fast enough. . .I can make it past him. . .From there I just have to get to the back and lock the door.
It was a risk. . .But based upon the expression in his eyes. . .It was a risk I had to take.
Taking two more steps back, I waited until Chase drew closer, making the opening wider. . .Before making a mad dash for the space between him and the nearby shelves.
I ducked him as he reached out for me, managing to slip past for a brief, beautiful moment. . .
Only. . .I didn't move nearly fast enough to stay out of his reach.
An arm looped around my stomach before I was thrown backwards, right into the nearby shelf covered wall.
A grunt of pain left me as the shelves dug into my body, sending a few. . .A lot of the cardboard boxes over here raining down on me, causing me to be forced to shield my head with my arms lest the sharp corners stab me.
To protect myself, I left my stomach and chest exposed.
A punch landed on my stomach, winding me and nearly making me vomit.
Crumpling down to the ground, I continued to shield my head as I kick landed on my legs, just barely tucking them up against my chest to protect my stomach in time.
He kicked me a few more times before finally stopping, leaving me to remain curled up there.
''If you appear anywhere near my boyfriends or their places of work ever again, I will make sure you never. Ever. Reappear again. Do you understand.'' Chase hissed out, his voice deadly quiet and dangerous.
Cold, genuine fear gripped at my chest as I very slowly nodded, still shielding my head all the while.
He remained silently standing over me for a moment before I listened as he slowly started to walk away.
I didn't uncurl until I heard the doors open and shut, leaving the shop in silence.
Slowly uncurling, I sat up, wincing as a far too sharp pain came from my abdomen.
Oh no. . .
Lifting my shirt, I noticed the freshly healed scars from the surgery I had to undergo after being shot was oozing blood.
Ah shit. . .I think I still have gauze and bandages behind the counter.
Slowly, painfully, I pushed myself up, using the shelf as support as I stumbled back over to the counter, rummaging around for a moment before I found it.
Leaning against the wall, I painfully bandaged myself up, wincing the entire while.
I don't think Asprin will be enough to numb this pain. . .
Sighing heavily, I rested my head on the cool surface in front of the counter as I tried to take account of how badly I'd be in pain once the adrenaline wears off.
My back will be killing me at the end of the day for sure. . .
Sighing heavily, I looked up at the florescent lights up above as I thought over how I got in this situation in the first place.
It is fully my fault. . .I gotta suck it up and just accept the consequences that come. . .It is what it will be. . .

Like one or two more chapters before the big confrontation and everything goes crazy.
Anyways! Like always, Have a good day/night and find a better book! - fallen
