:> Update time
----------------------------------------------------------
When I arrived home, I was worn out to say the least.
As soon as I reached my bed I was out like a light.
My dreams consisted of wandering through an odd forest filled with strange whispers.
I know some people believe you can learn a lot about yourself from your dreams. . .If that's the case, Then I'm really fucked up.
On the bright side, I was feeling much better when I woke up in the morning.
So much better in fact, That when Felix called me -Having coaxed me into giving him my number- I was actually willing to meet up with him.
And that's what I did come afternoon.
I was standing in the local park when the ginger came into sight, A tall, Brown haired woman following behind him.
''Ashton!'' Felix called out happily as soon as he spotted me, Picking up his pace, Jogging over to me.
He went to give me a hug before I took a step back.
When I moved, I could see the huge smile on his face start to drop.
''Stiches'' I reminded him quietly, Not wanting to make him sad.
Some of the forming tension left his shoulders as he gave me a sheepish look.
''Sorry. . .Forgot about that. . .'' He squeaked out, Awkwardly holding his hand out for a handshake.
This. This is going to be a long afternoon.
Before I could act, The woman who had been following Felix cleared her throat loudly.
Oddly enough, Felix instantly lowered his hand, Nervously clasping his hands behind his back.
Interesting. . .
''Mom. . .This is my boyfriend, Ashton'' Felix said, Some of his cheerfulness replaced with nervousness.
What is he nervous about?
Despite not wanting to be in any sort of relationship with him, I still was concerned about how different he was acting.
Maybe I'll have some of my members look into him . . .Make sure he's not being abused or anything.
The dark green eyed woman looked me up and down, Seemingly studying me.
I wasn't wearing anything even remotely fancy.
Slightly torn jeans, A large, Dark grey hoodie and slightly older sneakers.
All comfortable but not that fancy.
The suit Felix's mother was wearing was in very stark contrast with what I was wearing.
A slight sneer was forming on the woman's face before I spoke.
''We're just friends Felix.'' I reminded him, Feeling a little bad thanks to the 'kicked puppy look' that shot across his face briefly before he seemingly remembered our little agreement.
''Oh thank goodness'' His mother sighed out before he could speak, Some of the tension leaving her shoulders.
What?
I could see Felix deflate a bit at that.
''I was worried for a second that you were actually planning on dating him'' She sighed out, Directing that relieved statement at her son.
Ah, I see. . .She's one of those. . .Felix falls far from the family tree. . .
''Mom. . .He's my soulmate'' Felix tried to say before his mother waved him off.
''That's okay, Lots of people have scrap soulmates, He'll just disappear eventually'' His mother said, Waving her hand dismissively in my direction, Like she was shooing away gnats.
How did Felix end up like he has when he's got a mother like this?. . .Must have better parents other than her. . .Or I'm just judging her on a bad day. . .
''Mom. He's my only soulmate, Please don't scare him away'' Felix pleaded before I cleared my throat.
''Actually. . .I'm not your only one. . .I've actually met another one of them'' I spoke up, Deciding to ignore his mother, Focusing my attention on the ginger.
His eyes lit up at that bit of information.
''He's interested in meeting you and if you want. . .I can introduce you two to each other'' I informed him before his mother cut in.
''Is this 'other soulmate' better than you?'' His mother asked, A look of disgust crossing her face once again as she moved to push Felix away from me, Using her body to block Felix from being near me.
Poor Chase. . .Good luck impressing this one. . .
''He's an officer of the law. . .'' I stated slowly, Unsure how exactly she'd react but fairly certain that she might like the fact that he was in the police force.
She hummed slightly, Nodding slowly, Seemingly in thought.
''That's. . .Good enough for a start, Get us in contact with him, Boy'' She ordered, Seeming pleased enough with her son's still unknown mate.
Felix on the other hand. . .Didn't seem so happy.
I'm going to regret this. . .Regret this for a long. . .Long while.
Inhaling slowly, I braced myself for what I'd have to do and how quickly I'd have to do it.
''I've got his phone number, I'll give him a call and see if he's got some spare time to meet us here. . .Felix, Would you step away with me for a moment so I can give you his number as well?'' I asked as quickly as I could.
Luckily, The overly energetic ginger caught my words and processed them just as quickly.
His mom was clearly taking a moment longer to process.
''Sure?'' Felix muttered, Confused.
That was enough, I reached out and grabbed his hand, Dragging him briskly away from his mother while pulling out my phone.
Despite not ever wanting to call Chase, I did have his contact info saved in a little digital notebook on my phone.
It was a simple matter of dialing it in and letting it ring.
''Ashton I'm so sorry'' Felix whispered apologetically, Worriedly rubbing at his arms as he spoke.
The phone rang again as I turned my attention back to him.
''Shut up. You've got nothing to apologize for, You're not doing anything wrong'' I muttered, Not really in the mood to placate feelings.
The phone rang a second time.
''Still. . .I'm really sorry you had to deal with my mom. . .She's. . .A bit. . .Cruel'' Felix said hesitantly, Giving me an apologetic smile.
Before I could answer, The call picked up.
'''Hello?''' A warm, Different, Voice asked over the phone.
Who the fuck? Did Chase give me a wrong number?
