Back to the waking world :)

-------------------------------------------------------

I felt like shit when I woke up that morning.

My mouth was dry and there was a faint throbbing pain at the back of my head that refused to go away.

Which was. . .Unpleasant, To say the least.

Son of a whore. . .

I contemplated just trying to go back to sleep, See if that would fix my pain, When I heard sounds coming from the kitchen.

Did someone break into our house?

My heart started to still a bit before a muffled swore reached my ears.

It was just my dad.

That's odd. . .Shouldn't he be at work by now?. . .Something might be wrong. . .

Slowly, I tried to get out of bed before the pounding headache reminded me that it was still here, And not so nice.

With a quiet noise of pain, I reached out to the small bottle of Aspirin I had bought the other day.

I wasn't one hundred percent sure it was okay to take Aspirin while on the meds I was on. . .But then again, I took some yesterday and didn't drop down dead so I was willing to risk popping a few more today if it meant this headache would go.

Once I had washed them down with a quick sip from the bathroom faucet, I made my way to the kitchen.

Sure enough, My dad was was hurriedly making something at the stove, All dressed up in his work clothes, And no doubt late for work by now

''Dad? What's going on?'' I questioned worriedly, Making him jolt slightly out of surprise.

I slowly approached him as he leaned heavily on the counter, Placing a hand over his heart.

''Jesus Ashton you scared me, We really gotta put a bell on you sometime'' Dad sighed out, Giving me a tired smile as he spoke.

He wasn't looking too good, The lower half of his face was covered with the scraggly starting of a beard, And bags hung heavy under his eyes, Speaking volumes on lack of sleep.

''Nothing's going on Ashy, I was just making you some food for today'' He assured, Showing me a pan containing a slightly burnt fried egg in it as he turned off the stove.

I furrowed my brows in confusion at that, He'd typically make extra breakfast so I can have something to eat before school, But he's never gone about making every meal for me.

Hell, He's taught me how to cook for myself for crying out loud!

He knows I can take care of myself.

Why's he doing this all of a sudden?

Dad must have read my expression because he suddenly started to busy himself with getting his stuff for work all around.

''You haven't been out of the hospital for long, I don't want to risk you getting hurt while trying to cook for yourself. . . Now then, Lunch and dinner are in the fridge, You still have school off today as well so try not to get into too much trouble while I'm gone'' Dad murmured quietly, Quick to explain stuff so he could get off the touchy feely part of all of this.

Neither he nor I are the best with emotions.

He made his way over to press a quick fatherly kiss to the top of my head.

''I won't, You be careful at work'' I murmured back as he pulled away, Heading for the door.

''I'll see you tonight! Get plenty of rest. . .Oh! And if you need anything you know my phone number!'' He called back before he was gone, Heading off to his job.

He's rattled. . .

Dad and I have always been close, Seeing as for the longest time, It was just he and I against the world.

My little accident has seemingly really struck a nerve with him though. . .Which makes sense I guess.

Doesn't mean I like seeing him worried though.

Sighing, I picked up the burnt toast and slightly burnt egg dad had made me for breakfast as I sat on the counter.

Both dad and I are absolute shit at cooking, But, Food is food. . .And the care behind his intentions made it taste all the better.

Thankfully, By the time I had finished eating and cleaning up the kitchen, My headache was finally gone.

I felt better. . .A lot better actually.

So much so in fact, That I decided to actually follow what I thought was at the time, Stupid advice from the doctors.

The doctor tending to me had advised I try and get at least one walk in each day while I was readjusting to life again, That way I could retrain my muscles for walking.

I thought that was a good way to get shanked and that there was no way in hell I'd be doing that.

But. . .I had a strong feeling I'd go crazy just sitting around the house, And I sure as hell wasn't going to be checking on my gang just yet, It's too early in the morning for that sorta shit.

So, After locking up behind me, I set out, Praying to whatever deity was above that I wouldn't get shanked while doing this stupid thing.

I had been more or less lost in my thoughts while I was walking, Letting my feet take me where they will while my mind wandered.

And where they took me just so happens to be the park I had met up with Felix at.

A park where a certain redhead was sitting on a park bench, Crying.

Seriously? It's so early in the morning? Why's he crying?. . .You know what. . .I don't care, This is not my problem. . .

My heart twisted a bit at the sniffled little sobs leaving him.

I didn't like to see him cry. . .This is the first time yet. . .It just didn't sit right with me.

So, Despite it not being my problem, I still found myself making my way over there.

I'll be the first to tell anyone that I wasn't good at understanding my feelings, But I sure as hell understood the one I felt at that sight, And it wasn't a positive one.

Reaching into my hoodie pocket, I pulled out a small pack of tissues, Offering one to the other boy, Drawing his attention up to me.

Without a word, I sat down beside him as he blew his nose in the tissue, Waiting for him to start speaking.

I was quite curious to know what had made this happy, Puppy like boy, Sad.

Very. 'Curious'.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

:) Ashton's a lil' bit out of it, But not so out of it as to not care about Felix (Even if he doesn't want to)

Anyways! Like always, Have a good day/night and find a better book! - fallen
