Small a/n! Italicized letters are going to signify Dream/Clay's texts, while bold is going to signify Vivian's. This will stay the same unless I decide to change it, and if I for some reason do change it I will make another a/n. Enjoy!

I finally got out of work around 10 P.M., extremely tired. Both mentally and physically.

Having to deal with people who try and find everything wrong with their order just so they didn’t have to pay was exhausting. I loved working there, but the Karens were sometimes too much.

I made the drive home, opening my front door and immediately flopping down on the couch. “Sam?” I called out. When I got no answer I knew it was just going to be me here tonight again.

More pizza for me, I guess.

I slowly lifted myself off of the couch and to the refrigerator, grabbing some of the leftover pizza and popping it in the microwave.

As I waited, I glanced around the small house. My eyes landed on the table, and I smacked a hand on my forehead once I saw that I had left my phone. What if Sam called back, and she now thinks I’m mad at her for not answering?

I made my way over to the table, grabbing the phone and tapping the screen twice to wake it up. I saw a missed call, and 2 messages, all from the number I called earlier. I silently praised myself for being able to remember Sam’s number. I may be dumb, but I’m not stupid.

I typed in the short password I had previously made, and went to my texts.

Unknown Number:

Hey, I think you may have the wrong number. My name is definitely not Sam, and I don’t have a roommate. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I groaned in annoyance. Just my luck.

I saw that I had another unread message, and scrolled down to see what else this random person said.

Unknown Number:

Wait, you said your name was Vivian, right? I think you may have taken my order at G & Q. I saw the name on your nametag and your voice sounds the same. I ordered the apple spice latte with extra cinnamon.

This will be very awkward if you’re not her.

I scrunched my brows together, trying to recall who ordered that. Despite it being the peak of fall, no one really ordered that drink. It always got outshined by the pumpkin spice drinks we had. It then clicked.

Oh. oh.

He was the super cute guy I had served. Tall, light brown almost bordering on dirty blonde hair, slightly tanned with freckles, and those super green eyes that looked like little gemstones.

I immediately started typing back, trying not to flip out.

Me:

Yes, that was me. Small world, right?

I pressed send, and waited for his answer. I saw the 3 little dots almost immediately, and I couldn’t help but smile a bit.

Unknown Number:

Totally. I just wanted to say that I thought you were really pretty, and wanted to ask you out on a date? I was going to ask in the shop, but I got nervous. I know it’s sudden, but I’d probably kick myself later if I didn’t ask you now.

My eyes widened, disbelief coursing through me. There was no way. I blinked and brought the phone closer to my face, rereading the message to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. My fingers hovered over the keyboard, about to answer when I saw those 3 dots light up again.

Unknown Number:

Just realized that’s kind of weird of me to ask. You don’t have to, of course.

My fingers started flying over the keyboard, typing out a quick answer.

Me:

I would love to.

Unknown Number:

Wait, really?

Me

Yes. That sounds fun.

Unknown Number

I did not expect that answer, I’ll be honest with you.

Holy crud. Okay. Awesome. I just realized you don’t even know my name.

It’s Clay, by the way.

My fingers already began typing again, my brain not even thinking quick enough to stop myself.

Me:

Like the Minecraft block?

I smacked my hand on my forehead, silently cursing myself. Really, Vivian? What the hell was that? Great fucking flirting skills, dude.

Those dots appeared again, and I silently prayed to whatever being that was listening that I didn’t ruin this… whatever this is.

Unknown Number:

Yeah, I guess lol.

Do you play? Minecraft, I mean.

I sighed. Might as well just say yes.

Me:

Yeah, a little bit.

Unknown Number:

I like you even more now.

I broke out into a grin, feeling giddy again.

Unknown Number:

So, it’s a date??

Me:

Absolutely.

Unknown Number:

Alright. How does Moe’s sound, 6 P.M. tomorrow?

Me:

Perfect.

Unknown Number:

Hell yeah.

I let out a happy sigh, promptly changing the contact name to ‘Clay’.

I hadn’t been on a date in nearly 4 months. The last one I had been on ended terribly.

He made me pay half of the bill, despite the fact that my “meal” wasn’t even a meal and was a 7 dollar appetizer because the place he took me to didn’t have a meal under 20 dollars, and he got 80 dollars worth of food.

I ghosted him after that, because no thank you.

So to say I was excited to go on a date with a guy who seemed really great was a gross understatement.

I set the phone back down on the table, taking a deep breath. I had a feeling that I had forgotten something, and decided to do a onceover of the house to see if anything struck up the memory.

My eyes landed on the kitchen, and I let out a small “Ohhh.” As I made my way over to the microwave, grabbing the now cold pizza. I popped it back in to heat up, leaning against the counter while waiting for the ‘beep’ sound to signal it was done.

Once it was done, I made my way into my bedroom and got comfy on my bed, watching random videos on YouTube while I ate. I glanced at the clock on my wall, seeing that it read 10:57 P.M.

I finished up the food, took a quick shower, and went to sleep.

For the first time in a while, I wasn’t dreading waking up tomorrow.
