Chap. 6

The next morning, I woke up feeling happy. I hadn't truly felt this good in a while.

All because of one date. We hadn't even known each other for that long, but Clay was just so easy to talk to. I didn't have to search for something to say to fill any awkward silence, because there was no awkward silence between us.

I got up, a pep in my step. I took a long ass bath, taking my time to get ready. I made sure I smelled extra good.

I quickly cleaned my room, making my bed and dusting of my pc. I put on simple jeans and a cute frilly shirt, throwing my hair up in a ponytail. I put on a small amount of makeup on, finishing the look off with the same gold necklace from yesterday.

I looked at my clock, seeing that it was 10 A.M. on the dot. I ate a quick breakfast, quickly checking Sam's room to see if she was here. Thankfully, she wasn't. I had the entire house to myself.

I decided to make some of that strawberry cobbler. Might as well surprise Clay.

Just as I took it out of the oven, I heard a knock on the front door. I quickly put the cobbler on a cooling rack and covered it, dusting my hands off on my apron before untying it and chucking it in the hall closet.

I looked at myself in the mirror, making sure I still looked good. I did.

I opened the door, smiling when I saw Clay standing there.

"Hey." He said, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Hey. Come in." I opened the door wider, letting him walk in. He took his shoes off at the door, letting me hang his coat on a hook.

I heard him take a deep breath in, letting it out in a sigh. "It smells like heaven in here." He said, following me further into the house.

"Well, I did just get done baking." I said, nodding to the covered pan sat on the stove while grabbing a cloth from a cabinet and quickly wiping down any left over mess I had made.

"Is that what I think it is?" He said quietly, eyes going wide. I nodded and smiled, excited that he was excited. Seeing people gush over the food I make is one of the biggest compliments I could ever recieve.

He stood on the opposite site of my counter, leaning against it as I finished cleaning the rest of the stuff up.

I washed my hands, and as I reached for the rag to dry them he said, "So. You really to become a Minecraft pvp legend?" He waggled his eyebrows at me, the little movement making me giggle.

I put my hands together, almost like I was praying, and bowed my head towards him. "Why yes, Clay. Please teach me the ways of the Craft. I am hopeless." He laughed and I followed suit, motioning for him to follow me.

I led him to my room, opening the door so that he could walk in. I closed it shut, looking at him to gauge his reaction. He stood at the foot of my bed, just simply looking around.

"I don't know what I expected, but somehow this room fits you perfectly." He looked back to me and smiled that goofy smile, causing my heart to flutter.

I smiled back and said a simple 'Thank you', moving past him to my computer. I booted it up, a picture of me at the beach wearing a bikini, posed so that I was looking back into the camera while facing the ocean, popped up as my lockscreen loaded. Yes, I did put myself as my own lockscreen. I looked too good that day not to.

I turned my head to look at Clay, seeing that his eyes were wide and glued onto my lockscreen. I poked his arm, causing him to jump and look at me. "Are you ready?" I said. He nodded, turning his head away, trying to hide that his ears and cheeks were flushed pink.

I grabbed another spinny chair that was in my bedroom, wheeling it over to my desk and motioning for him to sit. I stood there for a second while he got comfy, leaning back.

"I'll be right back." Was all I said as I went to exit the room. I made my way into the kitchen, grabbing two cans of iced tea for us, and a few chocolate chip cookies that I had made earlier in the week.

I entered my room again, using my hip to shut the door while I balanced the plate of cookies and iced tea. "Alright. I brought us some sustenance-" I began, looking up at Clay only to see him once again looking at my lockscreen.

I smirked, walking over to the desk to set the food down. I sat down before raising my eyebrow at Clay, and poked him arm to get his attention again. He looked at me with those heated eyes, looking like he was in pain. I gave him a concerned look, feigning innocence, before saying, "Are you okay? You keep spacing out."

"I- Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. You said something about sustenance?" He said, averting his eyes from mine and playing with the string on his hoodie. I nodded, giving the cookies and tea to him.

"Oh, wow. Thank you." He said, taking both. He bit into the cookie, his eyes shooting open as he said, "Holy shit. This might be the best damn cookie I've ever had."

I grinned, clapping my hands together lightly. "I'm glad you like them. So! I guess I should probably show you how I play first, huh?" After he nodded in agreement, mouth still full of cookie, I typed in my password.

My homescreen looked a lot like my lockscreen, taken the same day by Sam, actually. But this time it was a closeup. I was grinning into the camera, wind blowing my hair. It was one of the best pictures that had ever been taken of me.

The look on Clay's face was different this time. Before, his expression was slightly pained. His brows had been scrunched, biting into his cheek. Now, it was like he was in awe.

I tilted my head, laughing lightly in confusion. "Is everything alright?" I asked.

He nodded quickly, his eyes meeting mine. "You're just… really pretty. Like, super pretty." He seemed almost nervous to say it.

I smiled shyly, cheeks heating up. "I can say the same thing about you." I said, not once breaking that eye contact we had. He took a deep breath, averting his eyes and blinking a few times.

He laughed lightly, scratching the back of his neck before coughing and sitting up straighter. "Let me show you how to be a pvp legend." He said, cracking his knuckles and smiling at me.

Oh boy, only the second date and I was already in deep.
