I woke up slowly, the sun streaming through my windows. I yawned and stretched, smacking my tongue against the dryness in my mouth.
I stood and ran a hand through my hair, meandering my way out of my bedroom.
I headed for the kitchen, laser focused on getting some coffee in my system. I walked into the kitchen, turning on my Keurig and listening to it heat up.
I jumped when I heard a low groan come from the couch, almost forgetting that Clay was, indeed, here.
I watched as he sat up, blinking slowly and sniffing. He locked his eyes with mine and he smiled, loopy and tired.
"Mornin'." Was all he said, his voice rough and low from sleeping. It made my stomach do cartwheels.
"Good morning." I replied, holding up a mug. "Coffee?" I asked, popping a pod into the machine.
I listened as he 'mhm'ed, and I grabbed another pod while I waited for mine to be finished brewing.
I watched as he stood, totally not oogling the way the muscles in his back and biceps flexed when he stretched. My eyes were locked onto him, and I watched as he turned towards me and began moving the blankets and pillows from the couch.
He looked at me, and I gestured to a basket that was near the hall closet. I'd fold them later.
He nodded and put them away, and walked over to the counter and leaned against it.
This was all… strangely domestic. We hadn't known each other very long, yet I was comfortable around him. No awkward silence, no fidgeting.
Once the coffee was done, we drank in silence. I jumped slightly when he asked, "What time do you have work?"
I set my cup down, leaning against the counter with him. "Uh… five? Yeah. At five." I replied.
He nodded. "Alright. Well, do you want to do anything? We could have two back to back dates. New record." He said, wiggling his eyebrows up and down.
I laughed and nodded, rinsing my cup out in the sink. Clay did the same.
"I'll probably go and swing by my place to grab some clothes. You wanna come with?" He then asked, grabbing his shirt that he had left near the couch.
"Sure. I'll go and change real quick." I answered, making my way to my room.
I threw on some jeans and a cute sweater. Sure we lived in Florida, but Jesus it could get cold during fall.
I slipped on some sneakers and grabbed my phone, heading out of my room to see Clay shoving on his own shoes and grabbing his keys.
He opened the door for me, and I locked it real quick before hopping into his car.
He started it up and we were on our way. We didn't talk much the whole ride, and in about fifteen minutes we were pulling into a fancy neighborhood.
He went down one of the roads for a little bit before pulling into a driveway attached to a huge house.
"Is this where you tell me you're secretly a millionaire CEO of some random company? Because this house is huge." I then asked jokingly.
He laughed, getting out of the car. I followed suit.
"Nah, I'm actually secretly Jeff Bezos." He then replied, grinning at me as we made our way into the house.
"If I kiss you can you make my Prime shipping come even quicker? It'd only be fair." I smiled at him, watching as he unlocked his door.
"Give me two and I'll think about it." He smiled again, finally unlocking the door and opening it for me.
Holy shit.
Maybe he actually was Jeff Bezos.
The house was somehow even bigger on the inside. Tall ass ceilings, a huge kitchen.
I was busy oogling his house when I heard a small 'meow' come from in front of us, followed by a small pitter patter of feet on wood.
"Hey, girl." I heard Clay coo, and watched as he crouched. A small cat then cozied up to him, jumping in his arms and making small chirping noises.
My heart melted. I fuckin' loved cats.
"Vivian, this is Patches. Patches, this is Vivian. She is very cool." He then said, giving Patches some scratches to the top of her head.
I 'aw'ed, letting Patches sniff my hand. Once she deemed me safe, she pushed her head into my hand, demanding pets. I, of course, obliged.
Clay carefully passed her off to me, and took off his shoes.
I rocked Patches in my arms. I had only known her for two minutes but I would totally die for her.
"I'm gonna go and get changed, you need anything real quick?" He asked, looking at me.
I shook my head no, and put my full attention back on Patches.
He smiled and chuckled, wandering up the stairs and into his bedroom.
A few seconds later, I heard a door open and a tired groan followed. That was really quick. Not only was this dude Jeff Bezos, but he was apparently also the Flash.
I looked up, expecting to see Clay. This was not Clay.
He had brown hair, and thicker scruff on his face. His greenish blue eyes stared right at me in confusion.
"What the hell? Who are you?" He then asked, sniffing and rubbing his eyes.
"Oh, uh… I'm Vivian. I'm Clay's-" I cut myself off. What was I to Clay? 'Friend' seemed too… chill of a word to use to describe us. Friends don't usually makeout after playing minecraft.
A moment later, another door opened. "Alright, I was gonna ask you, Vi. Do you just wanna stay here?" I heard Clay ask, watching as he came down the stairs.
He then spotted... whoever this was…. he had yet to tell me his name, and blinked.
"Clay, who is this? And why are you up so early with her?" The dude asked, sniffing.
Clay's eyes went wide, and he scoffed. "Good morning to you too, jackass. This is Vivian. We're here so I could change." He said.
He gestured to the guy, looking at me. "Vi, this is Nick. Nick, this is Vi."
I gave Nick a small wave, smiling. Nick only nodded, going to the kitchen.
I turned to Clay, watching him roll his eyes in Nick's direction. He then looked at me and smiled. "You wanna stay here?" He asked.
I nodded and set Patches down, and she scampered off to Nick.
Clay started to make his way up the stairs, me trailing behind him, before calling out, "Nick! Don't forget to feed Patches!"
Nick didn't turn from where he was making his breakfast, waving away what Clay had said. "Yeah, yeah. I will. Go have fun with your girlfriend or whatever." He called back.
"She's not my- ugh. Whatever, bye man." Clay said, hurrying up the stairs.
He opened his door, letting me in with a smile. His room was… interesting. Lots of green. And a few random blob creature figures littered around his room that looked oddly familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
He shut the door behind him before asking, "So. What do you want to do?"
I hummed, thinking about it. "You wanna watch a movie?" I then asked, eyes lighting up.
He smiled and nodded, and flopped onto his bed, his back to the wall. He patted beside him and grinned, gesturing me to sit down.
I followed suit, grinning at him as I also flopped onto the bed, giggling when he poked me in the side.
