The boy still couldn't believe that he finally got Lucius' phone number yesterday.
When he got home, he very much wanted to talk to the silly pink-haired boy but thought that it would be too soon. He wouldn't want to come off as too desperate.
It was almost evening already and dinner would soon start. He had asked his Father and stepmother more about the Heartener family yesterday and apparently, they are very good people.
Just like Lucius had told him, they resided on the outskirt of the town, where the forest is more dense. All Wisley could visualise was big farmland but his father had said that it was nothing like that. As far as his father knows, the place was more like a small village or a hamlet, secluded from the townspeople and activities.
Some rumours had even spread in town, that people residing there were cult members. But for some odd reason, that piqued Wisley's interest even more. Perhaps Lucius could invite him someday.
He leaned further into his bed, putting his head on the headboard. He thought about his future if he ever decides to stay in Woodsphere. He would miss his mother very much, even his stepfather. But what more is there for him in the big cities, besides his plans to go to college.
He looked up, staring at the ceiling fan as it rotates. The sound it was making was soft and the air was nice and cool. His eyes slowly close, falling into a deep abyss of sleep. But it wasn't for long, he was startled awake by three knocks at his door.
This reminded him of the second day in the cabin house, where he started seeing some crazy stuff. Just like that time, or other times, he couldn't seem to move his body. He was stuck in the same position he had fallen asleep in; slightly sitting upright, face towards the door.
"Tap, tap, tap." Came the three knocks again.
Wisley watched as the knob rattled and revolved. It almost is as if the thing behind the door, is having a hard time trying to open it. With all the noise it was making, Wisley started to think that perhaps he was dreaming or in another dimension.
Maybe he was the only one who could see and hear all this strange stuff. The knob moves again, harder this time until it stops. Later, Wisley would wish it didn't.
The door was slowly opening now, making a creaky sound. His gaze went from the knob to the hands holding the side of the door. Boney hands that was tightly grabbing onto the wooden object.
The boy's heart was rattling fastly, he felt out of breath, but could hardly keep his eyes away from the figure that walked inside his room. The hallway behind it was dark, his room too, it seemed to look more shadowy and eerie. The light all foing out as soon as the being stepped inside.
The figure, Wisley had seen it before. The day after he started living here, it appeared in front of the door house and then he saw it again, in one of his nightmares.
It was a female figure; he could see it properly now. The being was completely soaked from head to toe. Its wet dress clung to its body, and her legs were a little bent, being in an odd position that made it seem broken. The boy couldn't see the being's face, its head was hung downward this time. Hair covering its face further.
It started walking forward. The broken legs made it walk slow; like a zombie. But as every second tick by, the being would appear closer and closer to Wisley and every time it would take a step, the boy would feel a rough punch in his chest.
Its footsteps were heavy, creaking the wooden planks. Soon it stopped. It was standing right next to the bedside. Quietly, unmoving.
Wisley tried to gulp, but his throat felt awfully dry. He could only stare at the wicked-looking being. The skin was ashy and flaky, like a bad burn. Some of it coming off.
