Lesson Two: Care for Language
Don't blow up on me please! I know that a lot of people swear, and that's totally fine. I know that I'm the minority of people who don't swear at all. I recognize that this is a highly controversial topic.
But, swearing is called swearing for a reason. There is a reason we abstain (or hold off) from swearing in holy places (such as churches), or places of learning (such as school), or places of peaced (such as community gardens).
While swearing is a completely normal thing of this day and age, it is usually vulgar. A lot of times, it's offensive too.
While I AM NOT calling people out, I am saying that if you care for your language, it does make a small change in your life.
I'm not saying "hey, time to completely stop swearing!" But I am saying, "hey, let's limit it to when we're feeling excessive emotions."
Because swearing tends to drive out the spirit of a conversation. If you're having a peaceful conversation, and someone swears, it does detract from that feeling just a little bit.
If you're having a serious conversation, it does detract from that feeling and make it seem less serious and more insulting, aggrivating, or rude.
Same goes for if you're having a tense or diplomatic conversation.
Swearing tends to express high strung emotions, and it increases the tensiont too.
When you're just chilling at home or with friends, try this. Think of it as a swear jar. If you want, you could actually do a swear jar. But, everyday, I want you to try and set a limit of swears that you're allowed to use each day. I promise that the less you swear, the cleaner and better you feel, and the more comfortable others feel around you too.
And if you could reduce your input of swears as well, that would be great. Now I'm not saying, BAN ALL MOVIES! NO MORE YOUTUBE!
Gosh no XD. I don't swear, and yet I watch the Dream SMP (for all y'all who know, you know). I watch movies like Free Guy. I spend time with people who swear, sometimes frequently.
But I do try to limit it. I do ask my friends who swear not to do so around me very often. And it makes a difference. It makes me feel lighter, and it makes my environment and others in that environment feel lighter.
And all of my previous readers, before you yell at me "DUDE Troublemakers has so much swearing it it!" I have my reasons. If you've read any of the Q and A's you'll notice that book is a support book. Because of our differences, people hate on other people. I wanted to show that I'm not, that something opposing you and you're view can be beautiful too.
And that goes for here. Just because I don't like swearing doesn't mean all those people out there who do aren't amazing.
I love you all! I hope I didn't upset too many of you with this. If you don't want to do this, then don't I won't force you to do anything. I'm not omnipotent, and I'm not your mothers. But I do hope you accept my advice.
I'll see you all tomorrow.
