After around 10 minutes of traipsing through the woods, Luz's curiosity was about to be overshadowed by her annoyance.
Why were they here? Why did she have to sneak out? Why are the bugs so damn bi-
At that moment, Luz, not paying attention to where she's going, suddenly walks smack dab into a hanging tree branch.
"Puh!" she sputtered as she fell to the ground, stunned.
Over ahead, Camila was carefully making her way towards her destination when she heard a crack and a sputter of surprise from behind her. She quickly turned around in fear, which slowly turned into dread.
Was it possible that I was followed? she thought. Won't it be too risky to try and go ahead?
She took a deep breath and saw the old shack in the distance.
No. I've come too far now.
She continued on her path through the forest.
Behind, Luz sighed in relief. She had luckily tumbled behind a tree and ended up out of Camila's range of sight. As she shakily stood up, she winced in pain. She checked her left foot and saw that her heel had been splintered by the aforementioned tree bark. She sighed. She found that she could withstand the pain as the injury wasn't that severe, but as she continued to follow her mother, it felt like pins and needles were puncturing her heel after every tedious step. She had to bite her tongue to keep from crying out in pain.

At last, it seemed like they had reached a place of importance, as Camila sighed and started running towards a dark silhouette in the distance. Luz struggled to keep up with her mother — even though she was supposed to be behind her — as she was hindered by her now-swollen heel.
Up ahead, Camila's eyes —although unseen by Luz — were lit with excitement and shone like the stars above. She repositioned her glasses on her nose bridge and slowed down to a walk, taking in what was in front of her.
No matter how many times I come here, I will never not be amazed by this. She smiled to herself.
The crumbling shack looked as if it was about to fall apart. It was made of poorly positioned wood and had a weak foundation. The paint people tried to put on to make it look better had flaked off almost completely, leaving only a patch of red on the shoddy door. If you looked up, you would see the maroon chimney, the only piece of the structure that looked relatively nice. The wood was perfectly placed and nailed, with some leftover Christmas lights still hanging on. Oddly, it always belched out smoke; a blue-black fog that woud drift off into the further parts of the wilderness.
Camila hopped up the stairs, the steps groaning after every hop. As she got to the top, she thinks that she should've been more careful, but the thought is quickly forgotten as she stands upon the dark door.
Behind Camila, just behind a tall oak tree, Luz collapsed. The pain in her heel had become too much to withstand —for now, anyway — so she told herself she'd hide under a tree and rest. As she was resting, she peeked towards the silhouette — which seemed to be a house of some kind — and watched her mom.
Camila gripped on the rusted doorknob, hoping that the door would open. It did. As it swung toward her, all she could see through the doorway was bright, yellow light.
She breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness it works.
She stepped through the light and disappeared.
Meanwhile, Luz had been observing Camila and her surroundings. Although she wanted to pay attention, she couldn't because her heel was throbbing. One moment, her mom was in front of the door. Then she rubbed her heel in pain. When she looked back, Camila was gone, with a bright light coming from the doorway taking her place.
"Mamá!" she cried out to the shack. With a valiant cry, she sprint-limped towards the house. She felt no pain as she was only focused on finding out where her mom went. She bounded up the stairs, making the steps creak and moan due to her weight. She stopped right in front of the glowing light and paused.
Should I go through?
She looked behind her. Aside for a few flowers illuminated by the light, there was nothing to see. She turned back and gritted her teeth with determination to find her mom. As she took the first step towards the door, the pain in her heel came back. Taken aback, she tripped on a loose floorboard and fell through the light.
As soon as she was gone, the door swung shut, the light faded, and it turned back into the creepypasta of the woods.

When she came to, Luz found herself on a purple couch. She got up and saw her heel — the swollen one — had been suspended in the air. Perplexed, Luz reached out to touch it.
"Luz!"
Suddenly, Luz heard her name being called. She turned her head back and saw her mom.
Camila ran towards her daughter with tears in her eyes.
"I was so worried! I'm so glad you're okay!"
Luz could barely muster a smile though, as the questions that she kept inside her brain were starting to fly out. Camila sensed this and pulled away from the hug.
"Are you alright cariño?" she asked worriedly.
"Well," Luz started, "what is this place? Where are we? Why and how is my foot hanging in the air?"
Suddenly, a voice interrupted her.
"Maybe I can help answering those questions, kid."
Luz recognised the voice. She looked behind Camila and saw a tall, slender woman with her signature red dress and necklace. She started with surprise.
"Aunt Marilyn?!"
