The end of the week arrived really quickly; it was time for Taehyun to check in on all the clubs that said they'd recruit new members. Throughout the day, he visited club after club, leaving him with only one left around lunchtime.
Heading into the science lab, Taehyun didn't have much hope for this one. Most of the other clubs ended up disbanding, and this one, well this one needed the most work. How could one person, recruit 9 people over a few days?
"Hyung, what's the update?" Taehyun asked.
When he arrived, Beomgyu was sitting cross legged on one of the desks. He had a half peeled orange in his left hand, and some orange sections in his other. Taehyun could tell he wasn't happy to see him, Beomgyu was frowning since he arrived.
"No update. Didn't get the members." Beomgyu replied, shoving an orange slice in his mouth.
"Oh, your club will have to disband then-"
"Can't you just let it slide?" The boy interrupts, waving an orange slice towards Taehyun.
"Unfortunately, I can't. If I let it slide for you, than it wouldn't be fair on the other clubs." Taehyun explains. He makes his way over to Beomgyu, accepting the orange slice he had offered. "Mm you can't bribe me."
"That was part of the deal, you eat the orange slice, I keep the club. I kept up my side of the agreement, now it's your turn." Beomgyu smirks.
"It's not that easy you know?" Taehyun huffed. "It's to do with budgets, the school can't afford wasting money on all these clubs. It's out of my hands."
Jumping off the desk, Beomgyu strolls around the classroom. "I don't even use the schools money. This is so stupid." He groans, kicking the air.
"Then what do you even do in this club? No dinosaur activities?" Taehyun questions, eyes fixed firmly on the grumpy boy.
"I just do whatever I want." Beomgyu shrugs.
"Well you can do that without a club."
"I know."
Taehyun furrowed his eye brows, Beomgyu's reasoning made no sense. He obviously wanted to keep the club, but he didn't do any club activities, nor use the clubs budget. It seemed he only sat in the club room, doing nothing.
"I just really want to keep the club, okay?" Beomgyu slumps onto the floor, stretching his legs out.
Though he didn't quite understand why Beomgyu wanted to keep the club, Taehyun could tell it was important to him. He was the class president, he helped people all the time, whats another person to add to that list?
Walking over to Beomgyu, Taehyun bends down to his level. "I'll give you an extension. You'll need to find 8 members by Monday, you've got all weekend."
Beomgyu cocks his head to the side. "8 members? I thought I needed 9."
"That's where I come in! I would like to formally apply as a member of the dinosaur club." Taehyun replies, wearing a beaming smile.
"Hah you? no way." Beomgyu chuckles, causing Taehyun to drop his smile immediately.
"What why not?" Taehyun follows Beomgyu as he gets up, tugging on the boys blazer to get him to stop. "I'll help you get the members you need."
"I don't want members, and I especially don't want someone like you." Beomgyu pushes Taehyun back.
"You know this is the only way you get to keep your club. If you don't let me help you, then I'll inform the principle that you couldn't get enough members. Is that what you want?" The boy looked smug, hanging this information over Beomgyu's head.
Beomgyu scoffs. "Do it."
"Fine, it doesn't affect me."
Beomgyu watched Taehyun head to the door, he felt annoyed that the only way he could keep his club, was to get help from that guy.
"Wait." Beomgyu winces. "You can join."
Wearing an approving smile, Taehyun swiftly turns around. "Great! now we only need to find 8 more members."
"Ugh it's gonna take all weekend." Beomgyu moans.
Staring at the grumpy boy in front of him, Taehyun started to rethink his decision. There might have been a reason no one wanted to join this club after all.
"I think we need more time." Taehyun bites his lip, thinking of an idea. "How about each of us recruit one member over the weekend. Then we'll meet here on Monday."
"Sure." Beomgyu agrees.
"Okay! See you Monday, I've gotta get to class." Taehyun says his goodbye before leaving the room.
Beomgyu just shakes his head, relaxing his whole body onto the desk. "Cool. I've got a club meeting to attend to." He whispers as he shuts his eyes.
