It had been 2 weeks since the fight, and Taehyun still wasn't his normal self. Yes, he still fulfilled his duties around the school, yes, his grades went back up again, yes, he still hung around with friends, but he didn't seem happy. The Dinosaur Club ended up disbanding after the fight, no one wanted to be in a club with a lunatic who could attack at any moment. That plagued him the most, he wondered how Beomgyu was coping, he couldn't get him off his mind.
Sitting at lunch with his friends, Taehyun felt really down today. He didn't want to eat, and he didn't want to talk. Throwing his arm over Taehyun's shoulder, Juyeon wore a coy smile. "I heard Beomgyu's dating Karina now, they look good together."
Chanhee shakes his head at Juyeon. He knew what Juyeon was doing, and he knew it wasn't right. "We've got math next, what class have you got next Taehyun?" The boy attempts to change the subject.
"I mean power couple. They're both as crazy as each other." Juyeon laughs, nudging Taehyun's knee with his.
Taehyun just kept looking down, this was the last thing he wanted to talk about. He felt a small hand grasp his shoulder, and push off Juyeon's arm.
"I'm going to take Taehyun on a walk, let's go." Chanhee scowls at Juyeon, leaving the canteen with Taehyun.
The boys make their way to a patch of grass, beneath an old oak tree. They settled themselves down, though Chanhee looked really nervous. The pretty boy took Taehyun's hand, sending him a comforting smile.
"I need to tell you the truth about what happened two weeks ago."
Taehyun's eyes widen, he wondered what Chanhee meant by 'the truth'. Was there really more to the story? Taehyun could feel his heart racing, he just wanted Chanhee to get it over with.
"I know you think Beomgyu attacked Juyeon for no reason, but that's not the case. Everyone in our year knows Beomgyu likes you, he's never shown interest in anyone before. So, Juyeon knew exactly what would make Beomgyu flip, he knew how to make you hate Beomgyu." Chanhee looked ashamed at himself, he felt awful for hiding this from Taehyun.
"What did Juyeon do?"
"He text him, more like antagonized him. He told Beomgyu that you guys had kissed or something, I don't know the details. I'm sorry Taehyun, I shouldn't have kept this from you."
"It's ok hyung, thank you for telling me." Taehyun really meant it. He wasn't someone who held grudges, and Chanhee had only ever been kind to him.
"You should go see him, fix things."
"He probably hates me, plus you heard Juyeon, he's dating Karina-"
"Are you an idiot?" Chanhee slaps his mouth, he couldn't stop himself. "I didn't mean that, wait, yes I did. Haven't you learnt by now? You can't trust a word that comes out of Juyeon's mouth, seriously Taehyun get it together!"
Maybe Chanhee was right, Juyeon had lied to him before. But maybe Chanhee was wrong, Karina did seem to like Beomgyu. Taehyun felt conflicted.
"Stop thinking! Just go!" Chanhee pulls Taehyun off the grass, pushing him towards the school building. "You'll regret it if you don't!"
Taehyun swallowed his pride, Chanhee was right. He needed to just do it, or else he'd feel this sadness for the rest of his life. The boy ran, ran and didn't look back. Past each class, through each hallway, looking for any sign of Beomgyu. That's when he saw Kai, he was leaving the art room with a few of his friends.
"Kai I've been a bad friend to you, I know. I'll make it up to you but I really need your help." Taehyun said, practically begging Kai.
"You're not a bad friend Taehyun! What's wrong?"
"Have you seen Beomgyu anywhere? I need to speak to him."
"I thought you-"
"I know what I said; I was wrong Kai. I need to see him."
"I saw Beomgyu." A short purple haired boy chimed in.
"Really Wooyoung, where?" Taehyun asked.
"He was heading to the roof, with Yeonjun and Soobin." Wooyoung replied.
"Thank you guys so much!" Taehyun shouted as he continued sprinting through the school. He made it up every flight of stairs, feeling more anxious after every step.
'No student access' read the sign on the door. Normally, Taehyun would never break school rules. Yet, today wasn't like any other, he had to put that all aside, Beomgyu was more important.
The cold air hit his face as the door swung open, causing a pale red glow on the boys skin. He took a few steps, glancing around the roof, he couldn't see anyone. His heart sank, was he too late? He had so much to say to Beomgyu, he had to say it now.
Relaxing a little, Taehyun felt disappointed, he had just ran through the whole school, looking like a maniac for nothing. That's when he heard a small chuckle coming from behind one of the big vents. Maybe this wasn't over, he could recognize that chuckle any day.
