September 2020:
Who knew a chicken nugget
Would be the cause
Of an almost severed friendship
A torn up sweater
The cause of anxiety attacks
The cause of not allowing those close to you
To even go near your neck
For being choked is now slightly feared
The idea of hands around my neck trips alarms
The idea of them squeezing
is the same response I get
When looking over the edge of a tall building
It's as if my neck is the lemon being used for lemonade
Lemonade that sells for 50¢ a cup down the road
Everyone wants a cup
Till they realize how bitter it is
How little sugar was added
That the one who made it used salt instead
I am the salt added to the wound
And I sure as hell hope it hurts
