For about the seventh time that year, Tiberius was in a foul mood and ignoring Kei at the same time. She just about knocked down the door to Slytherin when Vic came out looking enraged.

"Vic!" Kei gasped.

"Hey, Padawan," his anger melted into a small smile.

She frowned, "I'm Kei, not Padawan."

Vic laughed loudly, "it's a character I heard a few muggleborns talk about. It's your nickname now."

"Oh," Kei furrowed her brows and chuckled, "anyways, I meant to ask you: Have you seen Tib? He's been avoiding me the last few days."

"Hm, he's been pretty weird— weirder than usual," Vic looked conflicted and then let a small smile fall on his lips, "you're smart—"

"Thanks?"

"— You can help me!"

Kei grew more confused as Vic gave no kind of explanation, "I just need you to help me research someone."

"Er– all right?"

"Library, tonight! You're a lifesaver, Kei," Vic explained, kissing her on the cheek before running off.

Having failed her mission of finding Tiberius, Kei made her way to the library later that night to help Vic with whatever troubled him. She found him sat in a secluded corner of the library with a few of Hogwarts records sprawled out in front of him.

"Vic?"

Vic looked up from the book in his hands looking dishevelled and upset. Taking in Kei's worry, he grew nervous as though he regretted asking them for help. She made her way over to Vic and sat in the chair across from him.

"Hogwarts Students: Nineteen Eighty-Nine," she read. "What?"

"I've been looking through a lot of registers and I haven't found anything about it yet," he groaned. "Since my birthday, I've been holed up here just looking and looking and— Kei, I haven't found him."

"You said you needed help researching someone," Kei recalled. "To get information, right? Who are you researching?"

"Er– Yes, information," Vic said nervously. "There's absolutely nothing about– I just can't– Ugh!"

Vic's frustration and nervousness caused Kei to frown. She slowly reached out to touch his arm, causing him to flinch, and frowned, "Vic, it's okay. I'll help you. You've just got to tell me what's going on. You can trust me, I promise."

Kei gave him a small smile and Vic nodded. Slowly, Vic pushed up the sleeve of his robe. She seemed to have dejavú due to the fact that Tiberius had done the same to her a few months ago. To her dismay, the letters spelt out someone who was unknown to her instead of the person she called her best friend.

"Edmund Dolohov," she read out softly. She touched the mark, expecting it to rub off at her touch, but it didn't. And it didn't bear Tiberius' name either. "Oh, that's. . ."

"It's, uh– It's a soulmate mark apparently," Vic explained.

Kei simply nodded, very well knowing what it was. Tiberius had the same one, but with Vic's name on it.

"The name of your soulmate, yeah?"

"Yeah. . . that's what I read," he frowned.

"Hm, I don't know an 'Edmund Dolohov'," Kei recalled. "They'd have to be similar in age, yeah?

Vic nodded, "do you think I could find out about him in any other books? I've read up on every single book about the Dolohovs! Looked in every Hogwarts record from the eighties to the current third years."
