chapter 9| kiera

it had been a few days since i met some of Felix's friends, and over the time, Changbin started to talk more around me. the conversations were never really directed to me, but he would every so often try to include me. and guess what?

I was right.

Changbin is none of the things that other people have said. if anything, hes the complete opposite. i mean, yes, hes still quiet...and dark. but hes really nice.

I walked into math class to see everyone standing at the back of the class room, including Changbin. it looked as if everyone was trying to avoid standing next to him. So I did.

the teacher started talking, "ok everyone, new seating plan today. first off, sunoo, you sit there, ni-ki next to sunoo, christine next to ni-ki, jungwon next to christine..."

her voice trailed off from my focus, and I started to think about what things would be like if I sat next to kiera. would it be awkward because she still hangs around with Courtney? I hope not. we haven't spoke since.

"kiera, next to sunghoon" I tuned back into reality and begged that I wouldn't sit next to her.

"yeonjun next to kiera" I let out a huge breathe I didn't know I was holding and relaxed a bit.

"Changbin your on the end of that row." she said pointing to the table behind kiera. please say my name, please say my na-

"y/n next to Changbin" YESS. I gripped my bag tightly and jogged over, next to Changbin. We both sat down.

"heyy" i said.

"hi" he smiled at me. we both opened our books and wrote the date.

"umm.."

I looked up.

"im sorry about what happened" kiera said leaning over her shoulder to look at us.

"it wasn't your fault, don't worry" I told her.

"I feel bad for not doing anything... plus, im kind of on your side with the whole situation" I nodded. Changbin watched us, confused, and put his head down again.

after math, I started to pack up my things, when kiera stopped me.

"do you mind if I sit with you today?" she put her backpack on her shoulders.

"ye, sure" Changbin answered before me.

" yea" I laughed at Changbins quickness. hes definitely opening up more around me and the people he knows of.

all 3 of us, kiera, Changbin and me, walked over to the table I had been sitting at since the "argument" and sat down.

all the boys turned their heads to look at the new stranger.

"guys... no need to stare, this is the kiera I was telling you about" I informed them.

"ohhHhhHH" they all hummed in unison. I looked over at kiera but she was already looking at me, with the look of "help me the fuck out" in her eyes. I walked over to take the seat next to hyunjin. Kiera followed and sat beside me.

"psst"

I looked over at hyunjin.

"yuh?"

"I thought u guys weren't talking anymore?"

"oh no, she was just in the middle of it all, shes on our side anyway."

"ahhhh~ ok"

"plus, on our way here we saw Courtney talking to a bunch of other people and hanging around with them, it doesnt bother us but...ya know"

he just nodded, going back to rapidly shoving his fried chicken in his mouth. it seems as though everyone has gotten so much closer over the space of a week.

I looked across the table at Changbin, him also rapidly eating. His puffed sheeks were adorable. i glanced at kiera who was talking to Minho, and then started on my lunch. shes gonna fit right in.

for once I felt...welcome? comforted?

i looked around at everyones faces. everyone was just...happy.

I like this feeling. I like this.

I hope it lasts.
