Part 21

George's POV

"We've been walking for hours, can we take a break soon."

I look at Dream as he continues on ahead seemingly lost in his thoughts.

"Dream?"

He doesn't slow down or even seem to acknowledge me as I try to talk to him. Reaching up I swing my hand at the back of his head and give him a hard smack.

"HEY WHAT THE HELL GEORGE"

He stops in his tracks and turns towards me gripping the back of his head.

My hands go up to block the incoming slap from Dream which leaves a large red mark on my forearm.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry, I was just trying to get your attention"

He glares at me, a large frown on his face and he looks down.

"We should just keep walking till we find a ravine"

Dream nods at my words before stepping off in the same direction as before, his pace just as quick as before.

I set off after him quickening my pace trying to keep up with his long strides as we head for a ravine.

Grabbing the map from my pocket I look for any signs of a ravine near us that we can reach before nightfall.

"Dream, go left"

"Why, what's left"

I turn to the left heading towards the ravine I spotted.

"A huge ravine"

He follows in suit slowing down his pace from before as to not pass me.

The hairs on my neck start to raise as my face flushed red.

"Why are you staring at me"

I look over to dream who quickly looks away avoiding eye contact.

"I'm just wondering how you're still here, I thought we lost you for sure"

My gaze falls to the floor and I slow my pace down even more before coming to a stop.

Wind blows around us as we stand in the open field. The sun beats down on us adding to the almost unbearable heat surrounding us due to our armor.

"I don't really know why I came back, but I do know we need to get out. We aren't the only ones stuck here, and if we don't win we certainly won't be the last. I don't know of a better composed team"

Dream removes his stare from my face and look ahead at the birch forest we are heading towards.

"I suppose you're right, come on, let's get going, we can let Sapnap and y/n beat us now can we"

Dreams face changes from a look of uncertainty into one of determination. He takes a sip of his water before putting the bottle away and continues on our path leaving me to follow him.

'Don't worry Bad, we'll get us out of here'

Sapnap's POV

We sit around the fire feeding it sticks every once in a while until we start to get tired.

I can see her shiver from the cold every so often as we bask in the heat provided from the fire

Searching in my bag I find the black jacket I was searching for and hand it over to her breaking her out of her thoughts.

"Oh, thank you Nick"

She slips her arms through the sleeves and zips it up almost all of the way

"Hey y/n"

I see her head turn towards me as her eyes roam my face. Turning my head I open my mouth to talk but nothing comes out.

'How am I supposed to tell her something like this, especially this late into the challenges'

"I-"

Her eyes gaze at me in curiosity as I try to form the words.

"I really miss my bunny, this is kinda near where I lost him a while ago."

She wrinkles her eyebrows in confusion not expecting me to say something completely random like that.

"Well maybe we will find him again, it hasn't been that long since you've last seen him."

Nodding my head I turn my gaze back towards the fire before shifting my weight and standing up. I read my hand down towards y/n helping her up.

We feed the fire one last time before gathering our food and packing it away in our bags and carrying all the supplies into the tent.

The moon shimmers down above us as we zip up the tent behind us and lay down on the makeshift pallet bed. She moves closer towards me before turning away laying down on her side.

I lay down beside her on my back gazing up at the top of the tent collecting my thoughts

'Why's it still cold'

I look towards the friend laying down beside me as I focus on keeping her thoughts out of my head.

Shifting my weight I turn towards her and wrap my arm around her torso bringing her towards me, my face near the back of her neck.

"Goodnight y/n, sleep well"
