The first real mission [3]

A few weeks had already passed ever since you became a genin, you and your teammates had already completed a few d-rank missions and were ready to complete a mission with a higher rank. To be honest, all three of you started to get a little impatient, since the d-rank mission were always a bit boring.

Finally, your team got called to the hokages office to receive your new mission.

"An escort mission to the hidden sand?" You asked excitedly, not only because it was the first 'real' mission, but also because that meant that you'd get to see the hidden sand village again.

The hokage nodded and you jumped up and down. "YAY YAY YAY FINALLY!! When are we leaving?" You asked with a big smile spread across your face.

"Now." The hokage answered and you turned around, to sprint out of the door.

"Well, Someone certainly is in a very good mood today." Dai giggled as he and Akiko followed after you out of the door.

You waited for the rest of your team on the front gate.

They arrived together with the person you were supposed to guard about five minutes after you did. [Just imagine some random middle-aged man]

"Alright, let's go." Demanded Natsuki-Sensei.

[Time skip because I'm lazy so time skip to where you're about to cross the border ig]

Natsuki-Sensei stopped and turned around to face you and the two boys.

"Okay you guys, from now on we'll have to be more careful. We're now entering the land of wind, so be on your guard." He explained.

All of you nodded before you took a step forward and crossed the border. Your heart was beating fast and you had a feeling of nervousness and excitement swelling up inside you.

It was years ago since the last time you've been in the land of wind.

You were walking through the forest for a few minutes, before you spotted the desert ahead of you.

A smile spread across your face as the bright and hot sun shone on your face.

"Woah, what's up with you that you're smiling like that [Name]?" Akiko asked.

"Huh? Oh, it's nothing. I'm just excited to be somewhere else for once-" You lied. You weren't sure how your teammates would react if they'd find out that you used to live in the hidden sand.

The wind was blowing into your face as you and the others made your way through the heated desert.

"Stop." Natsuki-Sensei said, making everyone stop dead in their tracks.

"Show yourselves!" Your Sensei exclaimed and pulled a kunai out of his pocket. A confused look appeared on your own and everyone else's faces.

Then, slowly a pile of sand rose up in front of Natsuki, as the sand pile began to shrink again, it revealed a boy with red hair and turquoise eyes. He was wearing a brown shirt and a brown pair of pants, he was also carrying some kind of gourd on his back. The cold look on his face made you tense up, you were scared that just a single tiny bit of movement could trigger something in him and that he'd attack you any moment.

As you took another close look at him, the feeling of realisation hit you. 'No way- it can't be him-' You thought as you finally got yourself together and walked towards him.

You stood in front of him, noticing that he was slightly shorter than you. [in case you didn't know, at this point of the story Gaara is still 12 so he's only about 1,46 cm/4'7] You study every single one of his facial features, his sea-blue eyes that shot a cold glare at you, making you cautions of your actions, the dark circles around his eyes, the kanji on his forehead which said "love" and his crimson red hair that was swaying in the wind.

"Gaara-?" You mumbled quietly as you felt yourself starting to sweatdrop, there was just something about him that gave him such an intimidating aura.. but.. you weren't afraid of him.. you were.. curious..
