The final round begins! [19]

Kankuros PoV:

The first fight was between that Naruto kid and the Hyuga. I had a bad feeling because of Gaara, he was.. furious, and tense. What if the plan would go wrong? What if he'd screw up?

Anything could happen, and then there was also that weird girl. I remember her being friends with Gaara back when he was only like 7 years old. It really did a lot of damage when she left him without a word.

However, somehow she managed to get on his good side? I don't know if he even has one, I mean, that guy's pure evil! He kills anyone without hesitation. That's why I'm scared of him.

A few days after the preliminary exams, I remember that she ran into us while we were training and that she ended up training wit Gaara by herself. Then.. how is she still alive?

Either way, the plan has to work, and it depends on Gaara if we succeed or not.

Y/N's PoV:

I still had a weird feeling because of Gaara, he was acting strange and so were his siblings. When I tried walking up to him, to talk to him, Temari blocked my way with her arm and told my that it would be better if I leave him alone for now. Was it just that he was really focused on figuring out a good plan to defeat Sasuke? Or was he, perhaps, scared of fighting against Sasuke? No, Gaara is certainly not someone to be afraid of his opponent.

I focused my attention back on the fight, Naruto was having a hard time getting a hit in on Neji. Meanwhile, Neji had a huge advantage since his Byuakugan was able to see through the shadowclones.

Just when Naruto was close to getting a hit in on the Hyūga, Neji performed a technique that I read about in a book. Only the Hyūga clan can perform it, but even for them it's hard to learn. 'Neji can do the rotation?' I thought.

He repelled Narutos attacks easily, but everytime he punched Naruto to the ground, the blonde got back up again. I often admire him for that.

I looked around, searching for a certain someone. Sasuke still wasn't here, and his fight was up next. What if he doesn't come? Is he going to be disqualified? I hope not.

While Sasuke and I might not be close friends, I still consider him one of my friends, plus he's Narutos best friend so I don't want anything to happen to him, if something were to happen to him Naruto would be sad. I don't want my best friend to be sad.

As I focused back on the fight, I noticed Neji standing above Naruto. The blonde seemed to be knocked out, but he wasn't. Suddenly, Narutos body poofed away leaving a cloud of smoke behind and through that dust cloud Naruto shot out of the ground, hitting Neji in the chin.

The Hyuga flew up and crashed back down. The fight was over. Naruto won.

Naruto ran back upstairs to me and the others and hugged me tightly.

"Y/N-chan~ I won! Will you now go on a date with me??" He yelled as I gently pushed him off of me.

I smirked and put my hand on my chin, tilting my head up. "Hmm... I'll think about it." I replied.

Gaaras PoV:

I saw how the Uzumaki boy won, I guess he wasn't as bad as I first thought. When he ran back up, he sprinted straight towards Y/N and hugged her.

He.. hugged.. her.. why do I.. have this weird feeling inside of me..? Am I..

...jealous?

"Y/N-chan~ I won! Will you now go on a date with me??" I heard him say and quickly turned my head around, glaring at the two of them. Neither of them noticed. However, Kankuro who was standing next to me did.

My elder brother gulped and took a step away from me, wise decision. I growled slightly and turned my head back around.

Where the hell is that darn Uchiha? I want to fight him.. I want to kill him..

Y/N's PoV:

Sasuke still isn't here, but something seems to be going on. I looked up to the Hokage and the Kazekage and noticed that they were discussing something, then another Jonin appeared next to the proctor and told him something.

"Alright.. we'll continue with the next fight since Sasuke Uchiha has not yet arrived!" Genma yelled. Who was up next again? I think it was Shino VS Kankuro.

"Uh- I give up!" The Suna-nin yelled and the proctor nodded.

"Huh?! Why are you giving up alrea-" I cut Naruto off by putting my hand over his mouth. "Shut it Naruto."

Shikamaru sighed. "Great, now I'm up next.." He groaned and leaned his head back. It was obvious that he wasn't in the mood to fight.

Temari opened her fan and got on top of it, she used it to glide down to the arena where she then hopped off and looked up at Shikamaru.

"Well, Shikamaru your opponent seems like she wants to fight." I grinned as I watched Naruto push Shikamaru off the place we where standing at.

The male landed on the ground and let out an annoyed groan. He's definitely not in the mood to do this, but that's typical Shikamaru.

Before the proctor could even give them the sign to start, Temari swung her fan around and created a huge wave of wind shooting towards Shikamaru.

Everyone gasped, thinking that the fight was already decided, but when the dust disappeared again we saw Shikamaru standing on top of two kunai which he had attached to the wall.

The dark haired male smirked as he jumped off, he did the hand signs for his jutsu and his shadow shot forward, towards the sand-nin. Temari easily dodged every attack from the boy and then positioned herself somewhere in the middle of the arena, where the shadow wouldn't reach her.

The fight went on like that for a little, eventually Shikamaru jumped into the trees. I don't fully remember what happened, because I began to sink into thoughts. I knew I should've paid more attention to this fight, since I'll be fighting whoever wins this match.

I guess the fight was just too boring for me at some point since Shikamaru sat back to think of a strategy. I once heard that Shikamaru has an IQ from 200+ which is quite impressive. I could end up loosing if I'd have to go up against him.

Meanwhile, Temari seems to have quite a lot of strength as well. From the looks of it, she's perfectly analysing every single one of Shikamarus moves, she's keeping her distance, and she's not being reckless. To be honest, I don't know if I'd be able to win against her either.

Temari was now hiding behind her fan, she did some hand signs to create a clone of herself, but then stopped before she could finish it. "Well done, Shikamaru." I said quietly.

The male had used the holes in the ground from the fight between Neji and Naruto earlier, to capture the kunoichi with his shadow paralysis. He walked towards her and raised up his hand.

"I give up."

Silence.

"WHAT?!" Naruto yelled, my mouth stood open and my eyes were widened, did that idiot really give up just now?!

"You can't just give up like that Shikamaru, ya know?!" Naruto yelled at the dark-haired male.

The blonde and I jumped down together and ran towards Shikamaru, after the proctor had announced Temari to be the winner.

Naruto and Shikamaru talked for a little as I gazed up at the clouds.

'Sasuke still isn't here.. and his fight is up next..'
