Elara has been at the Diagon Alley before; whenever her dad needed to buy something for his studies, she'd asked him to take her there. Everything seemed so alive and magically beautiful here and she loved it for that. Severus didn't look so happy though. Elara was quite sure that it was because of the fact that there were Hogwarts students everywhere in Diagon Alley today and her dad wasn't pleased to take an early look at those annoying children. After all, he wasn't famous for being kind to students at Hogwarts.
"Let's get your stuffs fast and get over with it little girl." Severus muttered; and Elara was more than happy to obey. It was stressful enough for her to face her classmates at school she didn't want to start meeting them here. "Alright daddy."

Severus passed the Leaky Cauldron after a quick greeting at Tom, the bartender, with long steps to reach the wall. He tapped the special brick 3 times and Diagon Alley appeared to them. Madam Malkin's was their first destination. Madam Malkin seemed so amused to see Snape there, buying robes for his daughter. "Severus, still can't believe you are a father of a girl at this age! Hogwarts?" Severus made a half-smile for the lady and nodded. Another witch came to Elara and stood her on a footstool and slipped a long robe over her head, and began to pin it to the right length. Several minutes passed in quite until the witch was left with the name tags. "Elara Snape is it my dear?" The lady asked politely. "Oh actually it's Elara Riddle." The woman looked at Severus in wonder, like she was waiting for him to correct his daughter, but Severus pretended to be thinking about something vitally important that he hadn't heard the latest conversation there. The woman looked back at Elara and said "Elara Riddle it is."

They didn't stop to buy parchment and quills as they had enough of them in their house. So they went straight to the Flourish and Blotts to buy the required books. Then Severus picked her a gold Cauldron and a set of scales for weighting potion ingredients with so much scrupulosity. Then she chose a collapsible brass telescope for herself. At the Apothecary, they ran into the Malfoys. While Lucius was asking for Severus's advice on buying a high quality basic potion ingredients, Draco started to talk about a wired boy he had met just recently when buying robes. She wasn't enjoying the moments he was talking about people with sarcasm. "... and he jumped out of the stool and ran out of the shop as soon as he was done to avoid my question about his family name. I think he was a muggle born but didn't want me to know it..." She wish he could stop talking about people like that one day. Luckily for her, Lucius announced that they were done with shopping and had everything on the list ready. So they apparated back to Malfoy Manor. Elara could say Severus was as happy as her to be alone again. "Now we are left with a wand and a pet. What kind of pet do you want El?" Severus asked. Elara couldn't believe her ears! She has always been desperate for having a pet, but her dad never really seemed to like the idea before. She tried to show herself calm and stated "I think i'd like to have an owl because it'll be useful in future. In addition they're beautiful." She ended up finding herself blushing red regardless of her hard try to stay calm. "Owl it is then." Said Severus. Elara found herself an adorable brown little owl in Eeylops owl emporium who couldn't stop staring at Elara. "I'll call her Hazelnut." She said happily.

The only remaining item was a wand

The only remaining item was a wand. They approached the Ollivanders while Elara was feeling her veins pumping blood faster. She was about to find her missing piece to become a real witch. They stepped in the store and she laid her eyes on the thousands of narrow boxes piled neatly right up to the ceiling. Then her gaze met Ollivander's silvery eyes. "Good afternoon sir." She said. Ollivander didn't answer her and instead, looked worriedly at Severus. "Severus Snape. Is she...?" He didn't finish his sentence but she already knew the source of the man's worry. Suddenly she felt like she doesn't want to buy a wand anymore. After all, she was able to do some magic with bare hands too. Severus seemed to be talking to Ollivander but she didn't really listened to a word of their conversation. After Merlin knows how much time, Ollivander put his shaky hand on her shoulder which made her jump a bit and said "let's find the young lady a proper wand, shall we?" She didn't answer instantly and after a couple of seconds nodded. He pulled a long tape measure with silver marking out of his pocket. "Which is your wand arm?" Elara raised her right cold hand to the air.
"Hold out your arm. That's it." He measured Elara from shoulder to finger, then wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit and round her head. Ollivander took down some boxes for her after the measurement and gave her one. She took the first wand from him to test. Nothing happened. The second, the third and so many others did nothing either. She was starting to feel very bad when it finally happened. A black walnut wood with a Phoenix feather core, 9 3/4 inches and hard flexibility started to shot blue and yellow sparks at the air. She felt warmth in her stomach and that was the closest she could get to the point of happiness in that dusty store. Severus paid 7 Galleons to Ollivander and they left without further discussion.

They returned home soon after and Elara tried to avoid any conversation with her dad by playing with Hazelnut all day long. She even refused to go to Malfoy's to spend time with Draco. Severus knew she was trying to avoid any conversation so he led her be alone with her owl in the remaining days before the October 1st.

The morning of October 1st seemed pretty normal so far. She had breakfast with her dad, got her trunk and grabbed Severus's hand to approach the king's cross easily. He met Draco there and hugged him. Then they said goodbye to their parents and stepped in the Hogwarts' express to find an empty carriage. Draco found a carriage filled with two big boy and a girl. He seemed to be happy to meet those people and sat among them like a king sitting among his bodyguards. Then he looked up at Elara and said "come here El, meet Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy. My father is friends with their fathers. Guys, this is Elara Riddle. The only daughter of Severus Snape and the Dark Lord." At this point his voice turned into a whisper. Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy lost the color of their face instantly. Elara didn't feel comfortable there anymore; so she brought up an excuse to leave there.
" thanks Dra but I think this carriage is already full. I'll leave you guys to catch up and go find another carriage for myself. See you at Hogwarts."
With that, she slide the door closed and kept walking until she found a carriage filled with a round faced boy and a girl with bushy brown hair who was already wearing her new Hogwarts robes. The boy was having a toad on his hands.
"Can I sit here guys?" Elara asked nervously.
The girl said "Sure. I'm Hermione Granger and this is Neville Longbottom. And you are?"
She cleared her throat and said "Elara Riddle. You can call me El."
The girl was like a happy owl, hooting nonstop and talking about literally everything she'd learned since buying her first year books. Neville was trying to follow her long speech when a smiling, dimpled woman slide back their door to offer them snacks. Neville was trying to catch up with Hermione and buy some chocolate frogs at the same time when he lost his toad again! He looked at Elara and Hermione with begging eyes and said "can you help me find my toad? He's missing again."

They started to walk in the train and asked people if they've seen a toad. They were reaching to the end of the train and still no sign of a toad. Hermione knocked on a door and opened it. Neville stepped in and asked a red hair boy and a raven hair boy with round glasses if they'd seen a toad. Apparently none of them had. Neville left to reach to the next carriage but Hermione wasn't leaving. She was looking at the red hair boy's wand which was pointed at his rat. She said "oh you're doing magic? Let's see it, then." And by that, she sat down. The red head boy's efforts to turn his rat yellow were in vain.
Hermione said "Are you sure that's a real spell? Well it's not very good, is it? I've tried a few simple spells just for practice and it's all worked for me. Nobody in my family's magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased, of course, I mean, it's the very best school of witchcraft there is, I've heard — I've learned all our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough — I'm Hermione Granger, by the way, and this is Elara Riddle; who are you?"
"I'm Ron Weasley." The red hair boy muttered.
"Harry Potter." Said the raven boy.
Elara felt her ears were whistling by hearing that name. Of course she was going to be in hell with the company of the boy his father tried to kill at the age of one. She muttered " I'm going to help Neville find his toad." and left there as fast as possible, prying he would never learn Voldemort's real name ever.
