I woke up quite early, as usual. I loved going for sunrise walks, so I had trained myself to naturally wake up early enough to see it. The current time was around 5 in the morning, and I felt surprisingly energised. Despite this, I decided it would be better to just watch the sunrise from the balcony than to walk around an unfamiliar neighbourhood and probably get lost. Not that I would have been missing out on much anyway; that balcony had an amazing view.

I slid out of bed and slipped on my ugg boots, which were sitting next to my bed. I crept out of my room and down the stairs, careful not to wake anyone. I didn't feel like making trouble on my first day at these peoples' house.

I opened the door to the balcony, a rush of cool air hitting me as I stepped out. I didn't mind though, I liked the cold. There was something about the rush of adrenaline the cold gave me that I enjoyed. I leant onto the railing just as the sun was peeking through the clouds. I had come down here at the perfect time. I admired the sky, that looked like a painting with the pinks oranges and yellows blending ever so perfectly. The colours reflected onto the clouds, as if the sun was walking down its red carpet screaming 'I'm the hottest one here!' (haha I'm hilarious I know). I watched as the sun rose ever so slowly over the city of Sydney. I found it amazing to think a huge ball of fire is seen as a national symbol to wake up. I suppose it would be hard to sleep in the light, but still.

"What are you doing?" a voice from behind me spoke crudely, taking me by surprise. I jumped, immediately turning around to see a girl standing behind me. I met her bluey-green eyes, hiding behind strands of her golden blonde hair that flowed down a little further than her chin. She looked annoyed, her pouty lips slightly pursed, her eyebrows creased and her eyes glimmering in irritation. I was sure this was was Coco. And as expected, she did not look happy to see me.

"I was just watching the sunrise, but I'm so so sorry if I woke you up," I apologised worriedly, feeling awful. I was aware Coco already didn't like me, and I definitely did not want her to hate me any more than she already did.

"No you didn't thankfully, I took Wilbur for a walk," she retorted. "But if you ever do wake me up, I'm warning you I will not appreciate it."

I knew that it was no use being bitchy back to her. Being a bitch back to people is never going to get them to back off, it will only ever get them to feel like they have to be meaner to you, and then you get stuck in an endless cycle. So you might as well be kind to them, to let them know you're a nice person and that you won't be an enemy, more of a friend.

"Do you need any help with anything?" I asked kindly, trying to get on her good side. She just rolled her eyes at me.

"You can quit the nice act. I already know you're just using me to get to Ruel," she scowled. "But I'm warning you now, stay the hell away from my brother."

After she had said that, she just turned around and left me standing there alone. I sighed and turned back to the now almost fully risen sun. Why did everyone think I wanted to get with Ruel or whatever the fuck his name was? I didn't even know what he looked like. All I wanted to do was get to know the people in this house so that while we were staying here it wouldn't be terribly awkward. But with one being a bitch and the other one not even coming out of his room, that was going to be difficult. I ran my hand through my messy bed hair, trying to get my mind off of these difficult people.

"Let me guess, Coco just gave you 'the lecture'?" a different voice said from behind me, not taking me by as much of a surprise this time. I turned to see what looked like Coco's twin sister at first glance, but by looking closer I saw it was actually Kate. She looked very similar to Coco, just her features looked a little bit older and more matured.

"I think so. If you don't mind me asking, why does Ruel never leave his room, and why do Sylvie and Coco keep telling me to stay away from him?" I asked politely, trying not to look too nosy.
