🌸 POV
As I was sprawled out on the couch, I couldn't be happier.
Yes, I was engaged to Adrien, but it was arranged. We didn't have feelings for each other.
So, in my mind, this was fine.
"You seem happy." Adrien's voice interrupted my thoughts.
I turned to face him. "So do you."
"Touché." he smiled. "What's your deal?"
I was hesitant to tell him. It involved romantic attraction and we were "legally" engaged. Was it worth the risk?
"It's okay if I like someone that isn't you because we don't like each other, right? I mean.. we don't have any romantic feelings for each other." I explained gently, trying not to get myself into an argument. "We're only engaged for our companies.. s.. so.."
"Marinette, what are you trying to say?" he asked, sitting on the arm of the couch.
"You know Chat Noir, right?" I asked.
He nodded slowly, his eyebrow shooting up suspiciously.
"I kinda.. met him again a few hours ago." I muttered, my cheeks feeling flushed. "And stuff kinda happened." I admitted, and his other eyebrow raised in surprise, causing both his eyebrows to be high up in surprise.
"Really? What happened?" Adrien asked, leaning on the back, his face being held up by his arm and hand.
"Would you be mad if I say we kissed? One or.. five times?" I replied with a question nervously.
He smirked. "Oh really?"
"Yes.." I muttered sheepishly. "I wasn't sure if I wanted to tell you because we're.. y'know."
"It's okay, Marinette." he said, using his free hand to move hair out of my face. "We're not dating, so there is basically no problem with it."
"So you're okay with it?"
He rolled his eyes playfully. "Obviously." he stood back up, "Now, why don't you tell me what happened over some tea?"
I quirked a suspicious brow. "You can make tea?"
"Uh.. yeah. You taught me how a few years back."
"Oh.."
I didn't miss the way his voice deflated slightly.
"Don't worry." I continued, grabbing his arm gently. "I'll remember our times together, okay? Besides, I remembered you."
He offered a small smile before he headed to the kitchen.
I sighed deeply as I watched him walk off. Poor guy.
Poor Adrien. He's so upset not being able to meet his love of his life again, and me not remembering him is not helping his state.
"Sorry." I said meekly.
He doesn't turn to face me. He let out a humorless chuckle. "It's okay. It's not your fault." he murmured something else, but I couldn't make it out. He continued his walk to the kitchen.
I stood up and followed him.
I placed a hand on his shoulder, making him still in place.
"Adrien.." I trailed off before he gently shoved my hand off. "It doesn't seem like it's okay. You know you can talk to me."
Adrien turned to me, "I don't think I really can, coccinelle." The nickname hit me like a cargo train. That meant ladybug in french. Why would he call me that? Why? "I'll be okay. You act like I don't have friends."
