Chapter 10

While their little fight was going on someone released me from the chair. The moment I got up we heard a gunshot. Xavier and Lucas stepped away from Vincent in pure shock. 

Vince was holding his stomach as he fell on his knees. Xavier was too shook to process anything that was happening. Scar had called for help and Lucas was helping him up. "You need to reach the infirmary before you lose more blood."

I reached out to Xavier and shaked him a bit. That got him out of his daze. "Weren't you two here to kill us all?" He said looking at Scar and Stuart.

"Well that was before we got to know you have something we want. Now we would like to form an alliance. We have already told our people to back away." Scarlet said, checking her nails and seemingly uninterested.

"When did you do that?" Stuart asked wide eyed. "When you were too busy untying the love of your life from a chair?" I looked away at that.

"Nova is it? I would like you to join our mafia."

"Cass actually but Nova works too. I would like to think of the offer but right now I want to go check on Vince." I grabbed Xavier by the arm, knowing he had very well gone into a frozen state which was usual when he got too confused or panicked, and dragged him to his dad.

"Go back to your place and come back after 3 days. We will talk then." And this time Xavier said turning around. Scar gave a nod and they went.

We ran to the infirmary. When we got there Lucas was sitting outside a room. I collapsed in the chair next to him and soon we heard footsteps. Lily was here crying and asking the 3 of us as to what happened to Vincent. "He was shot in the stomach mother. He has had injuries like this. He will be fine." Right as the words left Xavier's mouth, the doctor came out and all of us looked at him. "He is out of danger. He will be asleep for about 2 hours or so." I let go of a breath I didn't know I was holding.

--- 2 hours later ---

Me and Lucas were sitting outside. Xavier and Lily were in the room talking to Vince. He had regained consciousness a few moments ago. Honestly I was scared. He did use me as a trap.

I was giddy and Lucas knew that. I was playing with my fingers while my left leg went up and down. "Enough!" Lucas said, forcing my leg down with his right hand and stopping my fingers with his left.

"Be patient, you will be fine! He isn't gonna yell at you for him tying you up."

"Yeah? But I feel weird cuz I may yell at someone for him tying me up."

He gave a face that said 'Really'. "Cass, Vince is calling you inside." Xavier said, poking his head out. "You should come too Lucas." He added. We nodded and stood up. Right before entering the room Lucas squeezed my shoulder to comfort me. I just nodded at him.

Me and Lucas were definitely close. He was the brother I wanted. Overprotective, understanding, annoying. Sometimes he gave me Ron Weasley vibes. He did eat food all the time too.

I did not make eye contact with Vince at all. I was looking at the Oh-so-beautiful-floor. Why did I not notice that this carpet looked so old and worn out? I heard someone clearing their throat and looked up. All eyes were on me. I knew I should have kept admiring the carpet and not notice it's negative aspects. DAMN IT!

"What?" I asked innocently. Vince just stared. After a while he called me closer. I slowly moved forward with one step each until I was next to his bed.

"Sorry" I looked up immediately. Did Vince apologize? Did the Great Mafia Boss APOLOGIZE!? Yes I have grown comfortable with my family but seriously, I haven't heard Vince say sorry. NEVER.

"If I told you that it was a plan, your expressions wouldn't be natural. You are over dramatic." he said bluntly.

"Shut your mouth or you will catch a fly Cass." Lucas said, nudging me. I didnt realise my mouth had opened. "So you both knew?" I asked, staring daggers at Xavier and Lucas.

"Maybe? But the shot was un planned." Xavier said, rubbing his neck looking down. "Hey Lily did too!" Lucas exclaimed.

I turned to Lily "You Knewww???" I was furious. For a second there I thought that they actually used me. She just gave a smile in return. "Why did everyone know this and not me?? I thought we were supposed to be honest. Seriously I can't even hate you guys because I love you, but ThIs??"

"This is exactly the reason we didn't tell you Cass. Look how you are reacting!" Lily said. I gave them a death glare and left the room. Mumbling a small 'It's okay' at the door. I ran to my room.
