I hummed along to the music that played along in the diner. As soon as the door closed after the leaving customer I burst into song.
"Cause I'm a warrior." I sang at the top of my lungs. I prepared myself for the next line but a customer walked in and I skipped over to the counter.
"Hello. What can I get ya?" I said, my voice bouncing with each word. The man thought for a moment before saying, "I'll have a latte and one of those blueberry muffins, thanks." He pointed to the muffins I had baked this morning.
I smiled and set the coffee machine to work. Clasping a muffin with the tongs I carefully placed it into a brown bag. "I actually made those this morning. " The man smiled at me and replied, "They look delicious."
Blushing, I mumbled a thanks and started to attend the next customer who had come in unnoticed.
"Hello sir, what can I get ya today?" I said, my voice being happy and friendly. He thought for a moment before saying, "May I have a bagel ma'am?" I laughed and picked out the best looking bagel. "You've have the best manners I've heard in a long time."
He blushed and payed for his bagel. He turned and his face looked confused then changed when he saw the other customer.
"Phil." He said sitting down next to him. "Captain." Phil replied. An awkward silence followed and my humming was the only thing that could be heard.
"Here is your latte sir." I said approaching Phil. He smiled as I placed it on the table before him.
I glanced at the clock and sighed. "I'm very sorry to say, but this whole place," I waved my hand, "has been booked out. So in at least two minutes I am going to ask you to leave."
I winced, hearing how harsh I sounded. But instead of getting up Phil and Captain just sat there eating and drinking.
"Sir? Did you hear me?" I questioned Phil. He turned and smiled at me. "Of course. It's just that I had this place booked out."
I laughed but quickly became serious, "Just for the two of you?" Captain looked at Phil, a question in his eyes. Phil nodded at him and then answered. "No. Its not just us. There are others coming. We just got here early."
Nodding, I went off and started the dishes. As I scrubbed, my favourite song All I Want by Kodaline came on and without hesitation I sang along. Half way through the chorus I remembered that Phil and Captain were still here and I felt myself blush wildly.
I glanced at them and found Captain watching me, which caused me to blush deeper. He called out saying, "Please don't be embarrassed. It's lovely. Please keep going." Again I blushed, but hummed along to the rest of the song.
The bell above the door tinkled and I saw two people walk in. One was a red headed lady in all black, and the other, a man with light brown hair and also clothed in all black.
The lady walked up to the counter and ordered a cappuccino and sat down with Phil, Captain and the other guy.
The bell tinkled again and in walked a man with dark brown hair. He sauntered up to me and demanded a beer. I could feel arrogance radiating off him but I smiled at him, and poured him one perfectly. "Thanks, doll face." He said with a smirk before going to sit with the others.
Captain smiled and walked over to where I was at the counter. "Ignore Stark. He is just arrogant." I laughed slightly and nodded. The name Stark rang a bell. I pushed it aside and listened to what Captain was saying.
"My name is Steve Rogers. And over there is Phil, Stark, Romanoff, and Barton." He said, pointing to each one in turn.
I smiled. He sounded like he was drilling me. "Avallone Clancy." I stated my name, giving him a salute. He looked shocked and saluted back.
From the table I heard laughs and Stark shouted, "She's a keeper Capsicule." Steve blushed a deep red and I laughed along with the rest. He hurried back over to the table as three more people walked in.
One of them instantly caught my eye. He had long blonde hair and a cape. Stifling a laugh, I studied the others. A tall dark man in black was wearing an eye patch. The other was just a man in plain clothes.
What weird group of people. I thought to myself as I prepared the next orders.A beer for Blondie, and a sandwich for Mr Normal.
I set them on the table and took off my apron.
"If you need me, I'll be in the kitchen." I yelled over my shoulder as I walked away from the odd looking group.
