I smiled triumphantly as Loki and I walked into the lounge. The others clapped and congratulated me. "Fate." Tony said to me. I smirked but quickly said with a thick Scottish accent, "There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it."
Slowly everyone turned to each other with a weird look on their faces. "Did you just quote a Disney movie?" Tony looked at me, stunned. I nodded and started to laugh.
"I can not believe that you are quoting Disney!" He started to shout, jokingly. I just stuck out my tongue and started to walk towards the group, when I felt something tug on my hand. Turning, I realized that Loki's hand was still in mine.
"Let go." I whispered, just so he could hear. His hand tightened and then fell to his side. What was that about? I shrugged it off and sat down on the couch next to Captain.
The elevator dinged and Nick Fury stepped into the scene. Our chatter stopped short as he confidently sat on one of the couches. "Hello, Avengers." He said, with a Fury smirk.
We all muttered a hello and sat there awkwardly. How can you be open and happy when you are around Nick Fury? He was a depressing sort of man, with his quietness and eye patch, not that I am against it.
"I am here to talk to all of you, but Avallone in particular." He said, finally making his point of being here clear. A lump formed in my throat and my stomach started to sink. It was like when you knew something bad was going to happen, and you just have to sit there, waiting for it.
We all shuffled awkwardly before he continued. "Avallone, I am giving you back your diner." I jumped up with a cry, thrilled that I would be able to see it again. But it would only be for a short while. I am planning to sell it and-
Fury's voice broke into my train of thought. "I want you to move back there, for the time being." I let my hands drop to my sides and shoulders slump. "What?" I heard Steve choke. Eyepatch turned to him and gave him a pointed look, "You heard me."
"You will be open in two days time." He said, getting up. My hand flew to my mouth and stifled a gasp. "This can't be happening!" Steve cried, holding back tears.
I turned and stared at him. He is crying? Because I am leaving? Cute. I looked to Nick Fury and asked, "But I am an Agent. You can't just drop me like that!" He nodded his agreement and said, "You will not be permanently in your diner. At some point you will have to sell it. But for now, you will be there."
He started to walk away, but Tony stepped in front of him, tears also gathered in his eyes. I really must be something to make Tony Stark cry. "For now? Does that mean she will be back here?" Fury just nodded and kept walking, getting closer to the door.
I cried out, having so many questions to ask. "I don't want to go! Please!" Lie. My brain said. I took a step back, shocked. What?! I am not a liar. That is true! I want to stay here. I argued. That may be true, but you also want to go back to forget about all of this. And that is a truth you know, but won't accept.
"You will return when Agent Romanoff and Agent Barton return from their mission. But until then, you shall work in your diner." Nick stated before taking my arm and pulling me into the elevator.
"I don't understand!" I cried, as the doors shut. "Your training is centered around Agent Romanoff being here. Without her, your presence here is pointless; a waste in fact. You could at least be benefiting the community somewhat, with your diner."
The rest of the elevator ride was silent. Finally we reached my floor. Wait! My floor? He pulled me out of the elevator and walked into my room.
"Pack. Tonight, you shall be in your little diner." He said, sternly. I nodded and pulled a suitcase out of the wardrobe and started shoving my things into the valise, tears blurring my vision.
When I finished he just walked away. He was watching me crying as I packed, and did nothing? He is heartless. I shuddered and followed him, lugging the big suitcase.

The black car pulled up beside my diner. It looked unloved and I sighed. Fury caught it and opened his mouth, to say something that will make my night a whole lot worse: "Oh yes. I almost forgot. You will have no more contact with the Avengers until you resume your training. This is goodbye to everyone for the next few months."
I stared at him, the impact of the truth not quite hitting me yet. I just nodded and he handed me the key to my own diner. I unlocked the door and walked into the dusty diner.
"Goodbye, Agent Avallone." Nick Fury said, before closing the door, and cutting off my tie to my best friends.
