I watched the vibrant colors dance across the window as the hours passed by. Both of my parents looked at each other every so often and commented on what their predictions were on this "new house" but I didn't have high hopes.
"Opheila." My moms eyes studied me in the car mirror. "Anything you want to add? You're awfully quiet."
I continued looking out of the window watching the sun creeping below the trees and the hills.
I didn't respond. My mother sighed and turned to my father who looked at me from the corner of his sad tired misty light green eyes.
"I know this is hard for you, but I promise...one day we'll make it up to you."

My little sister solace was sitting besides me kicking my moms seat yelling. "We've been in the car for..." she paused and begin counting to herself. "Twelve hours. Mom I want to go back home!"
"Solace, it isn't our home anymore." My mom sighed and looked at me who quickly turned away to the window.
I didn't hate my parents, I had no reason too. They're just trying their best and I appreciated it at times. Solace gazed over her car seat at me with curious eyes.
Whenever I had family over they would always compare me and my sisters features to our parents. My Sister had reddish blonde hair and light green misty eyes like my father and I had a mix between both of my parents. My long dark brown hair was like my moms but the texture was just like my fathers. My eyes were a Smokey bright grayish green color.
Solace was always talkative, compared to me. I was bad at starting conversations and knowing when to end them. So I would hope that the silence would drive them away, not in a mean way.
"Ophelia!" My sister jumped up in her seat excitingly. "What if my new school has a bigger playground? Maybe I'll finally get to take over the slide at recess!"
I gave a half smile and rested my head against the window. My eyes begin to feel heavy, the car was so warm including the window. My mind begin to drift off to sleep.

Images begin to rush in my mind and questions. What if this new place was gonna be horrible? Will I be all alone? My mind started to fill with fear and darkness. I didn't want to start over again. My life just felt like a record on replay. I started to fade more into my mind.

I felt a slight tap on my shoulder followed with a screech. My eyes struggled to open by the blinding light. The car made it up a hill and stopped in front of small , but tidy three-story house.
"Come on Ophelia!" My sister whined, pulling me out of the car.
There wasn't a single car or person on the road. It was rather quiet which was a good thing. I hurried up the porch steps, while being pulled by a 8 year old. Embarrassing, but I was too tired to do anything about it.
The door was freshly painted white with a few decorative "Welcome home!" Stickers decorations on it. I quickly looked around. There was a huge Black L shaped couch right in front of a table with a Flat screened Tv on top.
"Opheilaaa" my sister yelled continuing to pull me up the stairs and down a vibrant bright hallway.
We entered a bright room with pink walls. A bunch of boxes were scattered all over the room surrounding a miniature dollhouse.
"Mom bought you this?" I questioned and continued looking around.
"A few weeks ago.. before she told me we were moving." Solace mumbled, picking up one of the Barbie dolls. "It was one of the last things I got from home."
"Mine was missing the bus." I chuckled.

"Mom was sooo mad."

"You better not do that again Opheila Mae!" I mimicked.

"I never saw her that stressed since any last minute changes." Solace added.

I tried to picture the room how solace's room usually looks. Very pink with barbies and doll sets. Constantly was messy with a few clothes thrown all over the floors, but I wasn't one to judge.
"Opheila! Solace! Come downstairs!" My mom yelled up the stairs.
Solace pushed me playfully and started running down the stairs. I smiled and followed behind her. I tried to stay happy, at least around her. If I showed the littlest bit of sadness or doubt she would get concerned.
"How do you guys like the house so far?" My mom questioned with a smile across her face.
"It's amazing!" My sister jumped excitingly.
"I haven't seen my room yet." I added.
My father entered the room wearing his usual blue shirt and black jeans

"Me and your father are heading out to grab dinner. Ophelia, Solace don't let anybody in and keep the door locked, got it?" My mom said seriously.
"Got it." I sighed and begin walking back up the stairs.
Solace jumped onto the couch and grabbed the TV remote. I waited on the top of the stairs for the door to close and lock before heading down the hallway.
I missed my old house and town. This place already seemed horrible. My eyes wandered around the hallway as I noticed a trap door on the ceiling. I pulled down onto the string and took a couple of steps back. Slowly, a whole set of stairs came down.
"Is this my room?" I asked myself.
I doubled checked to make sure I was alone. I begin going up the stairs making my way to my bedroom. I felt the feeling of wind brush past my face, welcoming me.
This must've been an attic at some point. It was huge, the room was painted a dark purple with some Tints of a lighter purple. One the left side of the room there was a huge circle shaped window that looked like it hasn't been touched before.
There was a few boxes scattered across the room and a blown up air mattress still in the box.
"Ophelia!" I heard solace yell, quietly as she could up the stairs.
I hurried down the stairs and the hall. My sister stood, just barely at my shoulders with worried eyes.
"What's wrong?" I questioned , as she pulled me along down the stairs silently.
"Sola-." I said right before shutting up.
A black car parked right in front of the house. A tall, brown haired man stood right outside of the car wearing a suit.
He looked around as his eyes landed on me and solace.

Shoot.

I hurried Solace upstairs not looking back. Once i made it to the top I heard a few knocks.
"Ophelia." My sister whispered worryingly.
"Stay here." I whispered back slowly heading down the stairs. After a while the knocking stopped, but the guy still was standing at the door. I hesitated and slowly unlocked the door. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest, hands felt numb.
"Is your father home?"

"Not right now." I said trying to sound confident.

"As soon as he gets home Tell him we got a situation."

I nodded and awkwardly closed the door and locked it.
Solace came running down the stairs, still looking frightened.
"It was for dad." I sighed with relief.
Solace stood far away from me, watching me carefully. She straightened up with a smile and turned back on the TV.
I heard the door unlock and turned open. It was my parents holding a few bags. I held open the door and almost fainted from the fresh smell of pizza and cheeseburgers.
"Dad," I said taking a deep breath. "There was a guy here, he said there was a situation."
My fathers eyes shot open as he hurried to the door grabbing his keys. "Leave my meal in the microwave!" He called back before closing the door behind him.
"Dad has a new job?" I questioned taking a bite of pizza.
"He hasn't told me about it yet." My mom paused taking a sip of soda. "He said it's a surprise."
I gave a half smile and sighed.

After I finished dinner I headed up too my room and blowed up my air mattress. My mom brought up all of my blankets and pillows from the downstairs boxes and tossed them onto my bed. Right after I jumped into bed I rested my head against the cold black pillow. I lost everything today, my room, my house, my friends, everything I once held dear to me. I couldn't stop the tears coming down my face. I could feel myself beginning to drift off to sleep. I just wanted to be back home.
