After a few rounds of Soccer outside on the Field Mr. Ramos brought everyone back into the gym.
Jansen walked in a few minutes after and sighed, lowering the phone down from his ear.
Kaius turned to him, ringing out his jersey shirt into a bucket. "What's wrong?"
"My uncle is coming back to town."
Serena's eyes widened with concern. "Why? I thought he was off the grid to get away from the government."
"I told him about the situation with Opheila and he offered to help. I told him it wasn't necessary but he insisted."
Saige turned to me then looked away. I could tell something was bothering him, but at the same time I had a feeling that something was me.
Jansen crossed his arms and leaned up against the gym back wall and talked to Kaius. I couldn't pay attention to exactly what they were saying. I was more focused on Saige. Serena smiled and laughed.
"Oh yeah remember the time your uncle showed up to school with a torn black shirt and ripped jeans. His excuse is pathetic." She laughed. "I was chasing around my 200 pound German shepherd down the street and almost got run over by a steamroller."
"What a fucking dumbass." Saige chuckled. "I still can't get over the parent teacher conference meeting. He was all like "Why are they teaching you about squares at the age of 11?"
After a few seconds of silence I asked. "So what is he like?"
Kaius groaned."He's experienced and Quite bossy too."
Serena and Saige nodded in agreement.
"He was dealing with all of this type of shit when we were kids. He also was the one who trained us."
I raised an eyebrow. "Trained you?"
"A bunch of people were on the hunt for us to bring us back to that place. Thanks to him we were able to go under the radar for years."
"Is he like you guys too?"
"Not exactly," Jansen continued. "Last time he told me that both him and his sister, my mother, were experimented on but didn't get the full 'effects'. Then years later him and his girlfriend ended up there and—"
Suddenly the loudspeaker turned on. A static noise spoke
"Saige Baine, Jansen Hayes and Kaius Marsh please report to the office."
"Shit." Saige groaned.
Everyone turned their heads at Saige,Kaius and Jansen as they left the gym. The moment the doors closed, the whispering started up again louder than before.
Saige's Pov-
We walked the hallways slowly, but not too slowly to seem like we were suspicious either.
Kaius leaned in and whispered. "Do you think they caught us on camera?"
"No." I said, sounding slightly confident but also somewhat lying. "They just want to get something out of us about what happened."
A few days ago after school we were in the woods behind the school trying to find out what has been causing the disappearances in town when something that looked animal-like charged out at us. We went running towards the back of the school and we had to jump the back fence, where they keep a camera (for Security and safety reasons I guess) and they must've been watching the cameras at the time it happened.
Jansen shrugged and rolled his eyes. "I'm about done with this place anyways. The most they'll probably do is suspend us."
"Yeah and then my mom and coach will lose their absolute shit on me!" Kaius groaned.
