"My heart shattered when I saw the picture." 

I woke up to the sound of a lawn mower. I raised my head and looked through the window, when I saw JJ right next to it. He was standing there, shirtless, headphones on and toothpick in the corner of his mouth. As he saw me staring, he smirked right away. As soon as I felt my cheeks turning red, I quickly hid under my bedsheets. Dying of embarrassment, I slightly lifted my head to see if he was still looking at me but suddenly, a warm hand touched my back. I turned my head to see Sarah standing right next to me. "You're up early." she says as she sits next to me. "Some asshole decided it was a good idea to lawn at 8 in the morning." I say as I tilt my head to the right, pointing at the window. Sarah chuckled as she noticed JJ. "Morning JJ." said Sarah as she waved at him. "Bonjour mademoiselle" replied JJ. "Ugh" I say as I throw myself back to the bed. "Come on we need to get ready." she taps my arm. "What? Why?" I ask her confusingly. "It's Kie's birthday Cassie. Or did you forget?" "Wait, is it today?" shit. I forgot about Kie's birthday. I need to get her a present. "Yes it is, Cassie. John B just brought a cake, and we will go surprise her now. Come on, get up." she says as she leaves. I quickly put my pants on and head out of the room. As I get closer to the kitchen, I see Pope lighting the candles. "Morning Cass" he smiles, looking very excited. "Aww you look so excited. I wonder why." I say sarcastically as I grin. "Shut up." Pope blushes in embarrassment. "Are we ready?" John B says as he enters the kitchen with Sarah.  "Let's gooo." JJ shouts excitingly. "SHHHH! You're gonna wake her up!" we all hush at him. He lets out a gasp as he slaps his mouth with his hands. We quietly get to her room and Sarah turns on the music. "Happy birthday to youuu." we all sing, entering to the room where she sleeps. She opens her eyes and glimpses at us as if she's being invaded. I think we might have scared her a bit. "You guys!" she says as she rubs her eyes, with a smile on her face. I lean the cake closer to her and say; "Make a wish!" She closes her eyes for a minute and JJ goes; "Wow, what a long wish. I wonder who it is about." JJ smirks. I slightly hit JJ on his shoulder. Kie blows the candles up and we all cheer, as we jump in a group hug. "Happy birthday Kie." 

We head out of the room so she could get changed. We then head outside to have some cake and enjoy our time. Once we're done with the breakfast, Sarah and Kie decide to go to their house to grab a pair of clothes for Kie's birthday party. Sarah asks John B and Pope to buy some stuff for Kie's birthday. Before they leave, I get close to Sarah and whisper to her; "Hey Sarah?" "Yes, Cass?" "I don't have a present for Kie." "Yeah, I could guess." "What am I gonna do now?" "I can drive you up to a store." JJ whispers to my ear. Sarah gives us a dirty look and I quickly turn my face to JJ. "Were you eavesdropping?" I say in a pissed voice, distancing myself a little. "So are you coming or what?" he spins the car key around his finger, leaning to the door. I immediately look away and say; "Let me grab my phone, and I'll be right back." I say as I go to the other room. JJ nods. John B, Pope, Kie and Sarah all head out. I grab my phone and get to the car. While JJ turns on the car, I hear my phone ring. It's Rafe. JJ throws his eyes upon my phone and raises his brow. I roll my eyes, accepting the call. "Hey Cass, whats up?" says Rafe in a tired voice, as if he just woke up. "Did you just wake up?" I ask him. "Uhm... Does it matter?" he says in a pathetic voice."Anyways, what are you wearing for the party?" "What party?" I say in a confused way. I turn my eyes to JJ, noticing his attempt on eavesdropping me once again. "Shit, I forgot to tell you. Must have slipped from my mind." says Rafe carelessly. I clear my throat and continue; "What are you talking about?" "Topper called me yesterday at night and told me about the party he will be throwing tonight. I told him we'd come together." "I'm sorry Rafe, but today is Kie's birthday and we will be having a chill Pogue party." "Get out of the way, you fucking asshole!" JJ shouts at the car in front of us. "Whom are you with?" Rafe asks as he hears JJ shout. "Shit." I mumble. "What?" "It's nothing, I mean, it's no one." "What do you mean it's no one Cassie? I clearly heard a voice." Rafe raises his voice. "Chill, Rafe. It's JJ." "And are the Pogues around?" "No, it's me and JJ. We are just going to get Kie a birthday present." "Why the hell are you alone with JJ?" "Because others are busy too. And anyways, is there a problem with that?" I say in anger. He scoffs and hangs up the phone. I can tell he's mad. "What does he want?" JJ asks in a pissed voice. "Never mind, it's nothing." I try to change the subject. He looks at me concerned, but then slips his attention back to the road.
