-10 years later-
Rosé was still in bed, tracing little circles on her wrist tattoo, watching carefully at the little snowflake that brought so many memories for her.
After she left, ten years ago, she tried to contact Denali for years, finding it impossible. The girl had deleted all her social media and changed her phone number. Rosé even went to her house once, just to find out that she had moved away.
A little giggle snapped Rosé out of her thoughts, making her look at the woman standing against the window.
Her wife.
The woman was still in her pajamas, wearing an oversized cardigan on top of it, and holding a cup of coffee. As she was watching the thunderstorm and laughing, Rosé knew she loved her, because she was like a little girl sometimes, and it was one of Rosé's favorite things about her.
Rosé stood from the bed and approached her wife, wrapping her arms around her from behind. And, in that exact same moment, she knew that was where she was meant to be.
"Good morning, baby." Rosé whispered, giving the woman a kiss on her cheek. She unwrapped an arm from her wife's waist and grabbed the cup from her hands to take a sip. "This coffee tastes horrible." She laughed, giving it back.
"That's my specialty." The woman giggled, as they kept watching the storm developing at the other side of the window. "I was born to make horrible coffee."
"Let's go to Starbucks, okay?" Rosé said, pulling apart. "Let's get changed first." She finished, giving the woman a playful slap on her butt.
On the other hand, Denali was getting off a plane, arriving in New York City for her next skating competition.
After that fatidic day, ten years ago, Denali and her mom had moved to another state, and the girl decided to cut off all contact with everyone, even her closest friends. She promised herself that she will never let anyone melt her ice again, so she found herself getting back to the thing she loved the most when she was a kid: Ice Skating. It was the only thing that gave her a reason to wake up every morning after all the pain she had been through, because one of the hardest things you will ever have to do in your life, is to grieve the loss of a person who is still alive.
Denali went out of the airport, carrying her suitcase behind her. She walked as fast as she could to the taxi that was waiting for her in the middle of the storm.
After arriving to the hotel, she took a warm shower and put on fresh clothes. Now, that the rain had finally stopped a bit, she decided to go for some breakfast to the nearest coffee shop she could find, which happened to be her favorite: Starbucks.
Denali ordered her usual Iced Coffee, and once she had the drink in her hands, she thanked the barista with a big smile, which quickly faded as soon as she turned around.
And there she was, Rosé in her fully presence standing in front of her.
Their eyes met. Suddenly, they were alone in the crowd.
Both girls, women now, imagined this meeting so many times through the past decade; what they would say, how they would feel... But absolutely nothing could ever compare to this moment.
"Hi." Denali breathed out; their eyes still locked together.
"Hi." Rosé mirrored her. She slightly shook her head to get out of her trance. "Hi." She said, more greedily now. "Hi, Nali, oh my God." Rosé quickly pulled her into a tight hug. "How are you? I missed you so much."
"I missed you too." Denali smiled, pulling apart.
"You still look the same." Rosé said, analyzing her. "Bitch, how do you do it?"
