"Hello, Rose!"
"Hi Kade, sorry I'm late." Rose laughed awkwardly.
"No you weren't, I just arrived as well." Kade smiled.
It was the next day. The only trace of Devon when Rose woke up was a note Devon left saying he fell asleep and that Rose should make time for him in the afternoon.
"Let's go?" Kade asked, "Do you prefer a light or heavy breakfast?"
"I like having a light breakfast," Rose smiled.
"Alright," Kade smiled and fixed Rose's hair before putting the helmet on his head, "Come on," Kade rode his motorcycle and tapped the back for Rose to sit in.
Rose nodded and with the help of Kade, he was able to sit comfortably, "Thank you, Kade."
"Mhm, you're welcome." Kade smiled, "Hold on tight."
Rose put his hand on Kade's shoulders.
"You'll fall with that hold," Kade put Rose's arm around his waist, "There."
"Let's go."
-
"I'll order a vegetable salad and toast," Rose said.
"I'll take a bacon and egg sandwich with a coffee," Kade ordered.
The server left after he took their orders.
"Do you like eating breakfast outside, Rose?" Kade asked.
"Oh, yes." Rose answered, "I don't like homemade food." Because my mom doesn't make any. Only Devon has ever cooked food for me.
"Oh..." Kade said, "I'm sure you'll like homemade food once you taste my cooking." Kade said proudly.
"You sure?" Rose challenged.
"Yes," Kade answered, "Do you know how to cook, Rose?"
"I don't," Rose said, embarrassed.
"I'll cook you food next time!" Kade smiled.
"Ah... really?" Rose looked at him.
"Yes, I'll bring you lunch together with mine at school." Kade said, "I know what you like now."
"Thank you, Kade." Rose thanked him.
"You're always welcome, keep that in mind."
-
"Thank you, I had fun. Sadly, I have to leave now," Rose smiled.
"Wait," Kade held Rose's wrist.
They were outside the restaurant, in front of the seaside. It was noon, it wasn't too hot because of the cold wind from the ocean.
"Yes, Kade?" Rose looked at him.
"Rose..." Kade slowly let go of his wrist, "I like you."
Rose stopped. It's nice to hear, but it wasn't nice in a way he was happy. Hearing a confession from a friend when so many people had already confessed to him was, well, shocking. But no one can steal the place a certain someone Rose has in his heart.
"Kade, I'm sorry-"
"No, don't say it." Kade smiled, "I just wanted to finally free it from my heart. I already know your answer."
"I'm sorry," Rose looked down.
"No, no don't apologize." Kade said, "Just, do one thing I'll ask of you."
Rose raised his head and looked at Kade, who was smiling. But his eyes told a different story. It was natural for him to be hurt, but Rose was hurt as well. Kade treated him the way he deserved to the point he doesn't think he should be treated that way.
"Be honest with your feelings," Kade said, "I want you to be happy, Rose. Even if it isn't with me."
-
"I told you I'll be out in 2 days and you're out having fun?"
"I-I'm sorry, mom," Rose looked down, ready to be hit by his mom.
She did, clutching Rose's shirt tightly, "We're leaving, pack up."
"W-wait! Mom, why so sudden?" Rose asked, tears flowing.
"Listen to me." She said, throwing Rose on the floor.
Rose was left inside the room by himself.
Dev: Meet me at the arcade later!
Dev: Don't forget okay? I have something to give and tell you.
Dev... Are we really leaving?
Rose didn't have a choice but to pack his things, sorrow and fear filling his heart.
-
"Hurry up." Rose walked faster, following his mom. They were at the airport. His mom was in a hurry, everything was a hurry.
Are they leaving for real? Or just temporary?
Many questions went around Rose's head as they walked. Well... ran. After Rose's mother told him they would leave, they left immediately after Rose finished packing his stuff.
"Mom..." Rose held her arm.
"What?" She glared, massaging her temples.
"Are we leaving for real?" Rose asked, clutching her long-sleeved polo.
"Let go," She said, "We're never coming back," she whispered.
Rose stopped. What about Devon? What about Rain? What about Zevrille? What about my life back there?
His mom pulled him by the suitcase he was holding. They went through a lot in the airport. He didn't even know where they're going or why they're leaving.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome onboard Flight 4B7 with service from Korea to Rome. We are currently third in line for take-off and are expected to be in the air in approximately seven minutes."
Rome? What would they be doing there?
Before the airplane left, a message reminded Rose once again.
Dev: Hey, I'm waiting here, okay? :D
Dev: You'll come, right?
Rose: Yes, Dev. I'll go. Wait for me
And that was the lie that broke their hearts.
