I lay in bed wide awake again.
Thought of Carter lingers in my mind. Why did he yell at me? I guess, I did make him snap but, this was so out of character.
He comment about the past hits me.
And my memories come flooding in.
He said: "I love you."
And then left me alone. I thought about running after him. But I didn't. Instead I just stood there stunned. Unable to do anything but stare at Levi as he walked away.
He never looked back at me, I wish he did, if he did maybe I could have had the courage to run after him. But none of that matters now.
I watched him get into his car with his mom and drive off. I just stood there.
I try suppressing the memory, but it came back.
Suddenly, drops of rain started falling. Naturally, I shrugged it off, not knowing it was a sign something bad was going to happen.
I walked home in the rain alone and confused. A friend came up to me.
"Hey, I saw Levi finally confessed!" he cheered.
I can't exactly remember what he looked like, but his name was Luke.
I remember looking up at him and smiling.
"Yeah, he did." I said.
Luke laughed, "I was wondering if he had the guts. He's always liked you y'a know."
"Really?" I asked. I was completely surprised.
"Yeah," Luke laughed. "didn't you notice?"
"No..."
"Well, now you do! God, it's really pouring tonight, I'm gonna run. Wanna join?"
"No, I like the rain." I said sheepishly.
"Suit yourself!" he ran off after that and I walked home alone.
When I got home my mom was holding the phone in her hands and tears rushing down her face. My face stayed blank with confusion.
"We need to go Eleanor!" my mom said grabbing my arm.
"Where?"
My mom wouldn't look at me, she wouldn't reply. She quickly pushed me into the car and drove as quickly as she could while wiping away tears.
Then the car stopped. I wiped my side window to see where we were. The hospital.
"Mom, why are we here?" I asked, afraid of the answer.
Her eyes were blank with no expression.
"Get out of the car and follow me." she hissed.
I was afraid, I was cold, I was stupid and young, ugh I was so stupid I couldn't comprehend what was going on. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
My mom quietly navigated me through the hallway and finally into a private room. The name tag outside the door read: Levi Weber.
Now the tears started to form in my eye. I covered my mouth and looked at my mom. She nodded solemnly at me and I nervously put my hand on the door knob. Slowly I opened it.
There lay Levi, his golden hair shaved off, his face full of scars and his sparkling blue eyes closed. He had an IV in his arm, a breathing tube down his throat, his legs in casts. I finally ran to him.
