((A/N: This chapter is longer than my others (mainly because of dialogue and other... "activities" 😏) but I'm sure you guys won't mind lol))
Darby's POV-
"Man, that coffin drop through the coffin was wicked!" Eddie compliments me.
"Did you plan that out beforehand or was that one of your spur of the moment things?" Jon asked, now standing beside me.
"Spur of the moment," I replied letting go of Hayleigh as Sammy and Eddie took her place.
I wait until Hayleigh is far back enough talking with Rhea out of earshot when I leaned towards Jon. "Hey, give me the ring," I whispered to him.
"You wanna ask her now?" Jon asked.
"I can't wait any longer."
Jon nods, reaching in his pocket and passing me the small box. Sammy saw the exchange and smirked. Motioning for him to stay quiet, I turn my head as I glanced over to Sting and he gives me a small nod.
Earlier on in the night, after I got the ring, I had gone to Sting and told him how I wanted to ask Hayleigh to marry me. He was all for it and told me I pretty much had his blessing. Originally, I had planned to ask Hayleigh sometime next week after taking her out and doing this whole romantic type thing, but after she surprised me tonight during the coffin match, and still on a bit of an adrenalin high, I decided tonight had to be the night.
Taking a deep breath, I went up behind Hayleigh and dropped down to one knee. My hands began shaking a bit as my nerves began to get the best of me. Taking a deep breath, I try to calm myself the best I could.
"So you got to go out there, kick some ass, and got two kisses from lover boy all in the span of less than 10 minutes. That's one hell of a comeback!" Rhea tells Hayleigh before she saw me behind her.
"It wasn't that crazy." Hayleigh shook her head.
"Maybe not yet." Rhea tries not to smile as she glances back down at me.
"What do you mean?"
"Hayleigh," I call out her name.
My nerves began to get worse as she turned around. When Hayleigh saw me, she gasped as her hand instantly went over her mouth while she grabbed Rhea's hand with the other. I swallowed hard, trying to retain my composer even though my hand still shook slightly as I opened the box and held it out to her. I had planned out everything I wanted to say to her during the proposal, but at that moment, I had forgotten all of it because I was so nervous, so instead of pouring my heart out other, like I had originally planned, I just skipped to the question.
"Will you marry me?"
Hayleigh started tearing up as she moved her hand from her face and nodded her head.
"Yes?" I smiled at her.
"Yes!" Hayleigh smiled as a tear rolled down her cheek.
Rhea and Sammy started cheering loudly while Eddie and Mox started clapping. I smiled as I felt my own eyes starting to tear up. Hayleigh held her hand out to me as I slipped the ring on her finger. Standing up, I wrapped my arms around Hayleigh's waist tightly and lifted her up, ignoring the pain in my back. Hayleigh hugged me back just as tight and wrapped her legs around my waist. She pulled back and smiled at me as a few tears rolled down her cheeks. Smiling back, I leaned towards her and kissed her lips.
"That's my boy!!" Eddie shouts.
Breaking the kiss, Hayleigh and I started laughing at Eddie. Setting Hayleigh down on her feet, I smiled at her while cupping her face. Using my thumbs, I gently wipe away the tears that continued to stream down her face.
