"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about."

•ADALYN POV•

The phone rang again for the third time but no one picked it up. We were on our way way to aunt's house and Lennox was driving me there. For the past few minutes I was trying to call aunt's landline but no one was picking it up. It was rare as usually the house is never empty.

"What's wrong?" Lennox asked while squeezing my thigh with the hand he sprawled on my knee as soon as we I sat in the passenger seat.

"I've been trying to call aunt but no one is picking up. It has never happened before." I worriedly replied.

"Wait I'll ask her." He looked straight ahead as his eyes focused on something in front of me. He must be mind linking someone. The idea to talking to someone without talking felt very cool to me. I could have been in so less trouble during my teenage years when my best friend and were berated daily for  talking too much during class.

I felt a jerk as Lennox stepped on the brakes rapidly. I gazed towards him quizzically and saw his face cold and taunt.

"What's happening?" I hurriedly asked already sensing that something bad had happened.

"We are under attack."  His voice was cold as he exited the car and soon pulled me out as well carrying me in his arms within a second.

"What attack? What is happening tell me. Where is aunt and everybody else?" I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck as he rushed towards the forest.

I can't see where he was going due to the speed but I had a hunch that something terrible had happened else he wouldn't worry like this.

"Witches are attacking the pack so everyone who can fight are at fhe borders protecting the pack." He clenched  his teeth  as he said that. His voice sounded almost like he's growling.

"Will they be okay?" I tried controlling myself very hard so that I just won't burst into tears. Only silence answered me as we continued to make our way towards the deeper parts of the forest.

Soon we reached a clearing which was totally empty. He put me down and bend down towards the ground.

Shuffling through the fallen leaves he was pressing the ground. To my surprise he open a door which was leading to a passage underground.

"Go straight down there and you'll reach the safe place." His tone was hard as he said that all the while looking towards some far off place.

He clearly was in a hurry to go but still firstly he bought me to a safe place made me feel a bit of warmth inside but I didn't want to leave him while not knowing how will he be.

Noticing my gaze he smiled at me assuringly," I'll be fine. Take care of yourself for me." He said his hand  taking a strand of my hair and wrapping it around his fingers.
