I wobble slightly as I make my way home. How could such a perfect day go so bad. Karma had shown up at the school early again like he has been. We played some games together and shared lunch alone again, so why... I grit my teeth, feeling my stomach lurch. Why did those two call on me again.

I stumble slightly. The day turning to night. I take a shaky breath and try to steady my nerves. As I do I feel the contents of my stomach rise up again. Unable to hold back this time I fall to my knees and let everything out in a nearby bush. Seeing the whitish fluid feels sickening. A reminder of this maddening situation. I clench my hands and teeth. Feeling yet another wave of rage.

I stand up again, shaking the thoughts from my head. I can't let this rule my life. I need to get back home. Get back to my normal life.

Once home I kick my shoes off at the door. Mom is doing something in the kitchen, she's humming something or the other and the sound of pots and pans can be heard. She seems oddly happy.

"Welcome home hunny."

"Yea, I'm home. Did something good happen?"

"Yes. Glad you asked." She comes out of the kitchen holding a spatula. "I got a promotion at work today! About time they do, I've been doing a lot of work for them."

"Wow that's great." I'm happy for her, really, but it's hard to be enthusiastic right now.

"What's wrong hunny, your frowning, did you get into an argument with your crush?"

"N-no nothing like that."

She walks up towards me, but stops just a few feet away. "Oh hunny, you smell like vomit, are you feeling okay?"

"Oh yea, I'm fine, one if my friends threw up on me today." I wave my hands around dismissing her concern.

"Oh wow, that would put a damper on anyone's day, go get changed. We're having a feast tonight to celebrate and we don't need any distractions." She winks, probably trying to lighten my mood.

"Okay. I'll be right back then."

"Take your time, I'm still cooking."

"Okay."

I rush upstairs. And get changed into some more comfortable clothes. Going to the restroom right after to clean my mouth and wash my face.

I breathe in deeply and stare at my reflection. Hands on either side of the sink. Why did things have to get so complicated? I close my eyes and clench the handle of my knife.

Once I finish up in the restroom, pulling my sleeves down, I walk down to the dining room. The tables already set and several plates full of food lay in the middle. Wow this really is a feast.

"Well don't just stand there, come and take a seat." Mom frantically waves me over, pulling out one of the chairs before moving to the other side and sitting down. "It's not every day we can eat like this, so let's make it count."

"...ah, yea.'' I freeze, great she's going to make me dress up tonight, isn't she, as some sort of twisted reward for herself.

She stares at me expectantly. Breathing in deeply, I sit down at the table. At least I can eat in peace before having to dress up. Even so, I should play along. I dont have the energy for this today.

"So how was school today?" she pulls some food from the center of the table onto her plate. "Oh wait, how was it excluding the vomit incident." a sort of half smile crosses her face

"Outside of the vomit, it was okay i guess." I follow suit and pull what i want onto my plate.

"Learn anything new?"
