Midnight Phantom

I don't really know how to write this one, so it's gonna be bullet points. Sorry. Inspired by No Time to Die coming out and hoping that Tom gets to be James Bond.

1. You're a singer/songwriter and you've been asked to do the intro song for the next Bond movie. Let's say this is 2025ish?

2. The movie is a young Bond sort of thing. Tom is, of course, the titular character. (Tom Hanks can't be the villain for a major reason noted below.) Let's let one Tom have his dreams come true though, yeah?

3. The plot is young Bond being blindsided by the Bond Woman because she is actually the villain. Because that would be fucking amazing.*

4. You and Tom met once, long ago, blah blah blah, had a one night stand. You know how it goes. Tom in his fuckboy movie star years.

5. You think nothing of it until you're asked to write the Bond song. And suddenly your relationship is rekindled because you get to meet him again and it's glorious. You don't even remember the one-night stand, but Tom does.

6. You get the rundown of the plot and you write a song called Midnight Phantom, because that's the name of the movie (and I know that was the name of a movie released in 1935, but let's imagine that that movie doesn't exist. The same goes with the song by Lucifer last year. I didn't know those were already manifested into existence when I wrote the song. And yeah, these are my own lyrics. And I could have changed a few words, but I really like it how it is.** ):

Will you push me down or help me stand

Whatever we do, is it chance or is it planned

You're giving me the cold shoulder

Don't you know it'll make me stronger, bolder?

I wanted you to be someone I could trust

How could you have left me to rust

I should have known when you never held me close

Leading the chase to keep me on my toes

You were gone and it was just another midnight phantom

Cloudless sky, no goodbye, taking my heart for ransom

You leave no trace, hide your face

Do you want me to forget you

Watch me think, ohhhh watch me drink

But for you it's hook line and sink

And then you disappear out of the blue

I should have known when you never held me close

Leading the chase to keep me on my toes

You were gone and it was just another midnight phantom

Cloudless sky, no goodbye, taking my heart for ransom

You were gone and it was just another midnight phantom

Midnight phantom, midnight phantom, midnight phantom.

7. Tom is flipping his shit because he thinks this song is not just about young Bond, but young Tom. And he confronts you about it.

8. And you're like, "what...? we had a one-night stand?" because you thought your singular one-night stand was with some other guy.

9. And Tom realizes that all is well and the song is only about the movie.

10. But then things unfurl and he starts to figure out that you knew you had a one-night stand.

11. So Angry!Tom and Independent!reader and angst

12. But you make up and all that good stuff and the premiere goes well.

*In which Tom is young Bond and some female actress is the Bond Woman/Villain. Basically young Bond meets the Bond Woman and has a one night stand. They seem to run into each other a lot and Bond takes her in on his side but she has a lot of lackeys on her own side to make sure that while she is infiltrating his op, her own op is running smoothly. Young Bond finds out later that she is EvilTM but he loves her or whatever. You know how Bond is with his Bond Woman. And now he's BrokenTM but he pushes on. He tries to make it seem like he doesn't know who she is but still has to kill her and then slowly take down the rest of the op because my god she did a good job burying everything deeeeep. After all this happens, Bond is accepted into MI6 because he made his kills and he sacrificed a lot of personal baggage for the benefit of the op.*

**These are my own original lyrics! Please let me know if you would like to put them to your original music.**

Alternatively:

You are the daughter of Tom Holland. He never got to be James Bond, but now he is being eclipsed by his kid, who, at 20 some years old is asked to do the intro song to the next Bond movie. Same plot as the first asterisk, but Bond is no longer Young!Bond, but however old Bond is supposed to be and played by some random actor. And the song you write is bullet point 6. And Tom is just a tad bit exasperated because of course, he wasn't Bond, but somehow his little girl has been asked to do the song for it.

Side note. In the verse:

I wanted you to be someone I could trust

How could you have left me to rust

I really thought about How could you have left me in the dust or How could you have brushed me off like dust but that gave too much of a Spidey vibe. So I'll let you rest easy knowing your heart is very much how I allowed it to be. Still beating. But I liked How could you have left me to rust because rust occurs from the oxidation of iron. And regardless of that IronDad/SpiderSon thing going on, we need oxygen to breathe, but as we breathe we die, so...yeah. And oxidation is what causes our bodies to deteriorate (slowly. yall don't stop breathing please) but it's also Bond's downfall. Because he needs his Bond Woman so badly, but she's got her own thing going and doesn't need him at all. And so while James Bond is falling apart, so are the bonds in his body. Science!

That's all, folks. Have a lovely week, happy spooky season, and I'll see you next time!  Expect an appearance whenever Tom next posts something or literally never. Whichever comes first :)
