Author's Note: Hi everyone. This is my first imagine in a while (like a year or so I think). I really hope you all like it. Please let me know! I was listening to Tom Odell's song Heal when I thought of Legolas. This is more of a sad imagine.  I hope you all enjoy it. ♥

Warnings: Yelling, past trauma

Y/n = your name. H/c = hair color. F/n = friends name.

Legolas was a Prince whereas you were just a warrior, born and raised for war, not love or marriage. Your father had reminded you of that many times up until his death about a year ago. His death didn't seem to affect you hard since he had always been cruel to you ever since your mothers death when you were only three. He blamed you. He always blamed you, for everything. Legolas was different though. The prince was kind, understanding, calm, collected, loving, passionate, sweet, you could go on and on forever... And that is why when he lashed out at you one day and said something he couldn't take back, you knew you were truly not meant for love or marriage... or him.

You and Legolas had been dating for a few months at this point, spending most of your time on journeys together since you were both elves, although not of the same kind. As you two were out on another journey through the woods, you had stumbled across a camp of orcs. The two of you were easily the best fighters of the Mirkwood Kingdom and could take this camp out in a matter of a few minutes. You had decided to make a game out of it, wanting to see which of the two of you could kill more of the orcs.  Legolas was a little hesitant at first but after a little convincing from you, his cute, shorter girlfriend, he nodded in agreement.

"Alright, y/n, you're on. What do I get if I win?" The tall blonde elf asked, his blue orbs peering down at you.

A smirk spread across your lips as you returned his gaze. "Hmm.." You pretended to think about what you could give your Prince, playing with a strand of you h/c hair. "I will do whatever you want or tell me to do for the rest of the day... More than I usually do, of course." The tone of your voice had a hint of seduction and tease to it, the smirk on your face telling him all he needed to know. Of course you followed his orders normally since he was the prince of Mirkwood, but he didn't usually command over you, that being his fathers job.

Returning the smirk, Legolas planted a soft, quick kiss to your lips before slightly pulling away. "And if you win... You can tell me what to do for the rest of the day." The prince said back with a wink before jumping down from the tree, landing almost completely silently on the ground beneath him.

The way he could move so quietly yet elegantly always seemed to amaze you even though you had known him for a few years. Following after him, you two approached the orc camp and began your assault. The two of you counted quietly to yourselves, racking up your kills one after another, sometimes two at once. It was all going smoothly until you turned to see how Legolas was doing. In the moment you had turned to check on your boyfriend, you were admiring him and an orc came up behind you. It was very hard to sneak up on an elf, especially one of you, but you were too focused on the love of your life, whom you hadn't told you loved yet. The love between you two is what you'd call a slow burn and you enjoyed it. Elves lived much longer than the average person so you had plenty of time to enjoy the small things with him. It all happened so quickly. Legolas turned to meet your gaze when he felt it upon him and to his horror, he saw a tall orc behind you, a massive axe held high above his head, ready to swing down upon you. Legolas reached for an arrow but he was out, the worst timing possible.

"Y/n!" Legolas cried, pulling you out of your fantasy.

As you turned around, you managed to dodge the attack in time and swing your sword high with great strength. With a thud, the orcs head landed on the ground, the body soon following suit with another, much louder thud. Blood speckled you as you turned to look back at Legolas, seeing his worry turn to something you hadn't seen on him before, at least not directed towards you. Anger.

"I'm okay. I'm okay!" You said reassuringly, walking over to him after he had slain the last of the orcs, his anger still shown.

"You could've been injured! Or worse, y/n!" His voice boomed, echoing through the now quiet forest. "You could've been killed!" Legolas' voice made you flinch.

"I-I'm.. I'm okay, Legolas.. Really." The words came out in more of a hushed tone. You always spoke in a proud, strong tone but he had now reduced you to a quiet tone, something only your father had ever done.

"Do you realize how dumb that was?!" There was no calming him down. "Gods! Do you even think?! Do you even think about anyone but yourself? You were so focused on winning, you had to look at me to see if I was ahead of you or not!"

Had he not realized you were actually looking at him to check on him and got lost in your love and adoration for him?

"That's not what happened!" You tried to protest but just as quick as you were to do that he was quicker to shut you down.

"Of course it's what happened. You are so focused on proving yourself to everyone, y/n! You've been this way ever since I met you! You think you have something to prove just because your father hated you. It would've been your fault if you got hurt or died!" His words cut deep and you were left speechless, looking at him with tears threatening to spill.

Legolas looked at you with such anger, his jaw clenched tightly. No more words were spoken as he stormed off, making his way back to the castle. You quietly followed behind him, looking from the ground to the back of his head then to the ground again. As you tried to think of what to say to him, nothing came. Was he right? Was everything really your fault? Just like your dad said? You had just stopped for a brief moment to check on the man you loved and got lost in the thoughts.

After reaching the castle, he stormed off to his room leaving you alone. You hadn't told him that during the battle you had gotten slashed by a sword on your leg. Somehow you had managed to hide it from him, probably due to his anger and the fact he had only ever looked at your eyes then the forest on the way back. But Legolas always paid attention to details. Your thoughts wandered to either he didn't notice or he noticed and didn't care. Of course your thoughts focused on the worst. He didn't care.

Making your way to the med bay, you found your friend on the way, f/n. They saw how bad you looked and quickly followed you along to the med bay, asking what had happened. Catching them up, one of the elves there bandaged you up. After being bandaged, you made your way to your room with f/n in tow. They could tell you shouldn't be alone and knowing Legolas was most likely still seething, they decided they would be the one to be there for you.

As you sat on your bed, the tears that had threatened to spill earlier in the day but you hadn't let them suddenly came rushing back. The tears slowly slid down your cheeks and f/n noticed, quick to wrap you in a hug.

"Oh, y/n... Please don't cry." F/n said softly, rubbing your back.

"He hates me." You whispered quietly, your arms slowly wrapping around your friends back, resting your chin on their shoulder.

You sat there, crying for a little while your friend held you, wishing they could take your pain away. After a few, your sobs subsided into soft whimpers every now and then. Sitting back, you leaned against the wooden headboard, looking outside your window that was only a few feet away.

"Take my mind and take my pain..." You whisper, a single tear rolling down your cheek as you close your eyes. You felt your friend's hand rest on top of yours, knowing they were trying to take your pain away in any way they could.

Looking at them with tears in your eyes, you whispered softly. "Tell me somethings last.."

F/n had been your friend longer than you had been at Mirkwood. They had come with you when you joined the guards and they knew about your past with your father and mother, more than Legolas knew. They also knew how nothing good ever seemed to last for you except your two's friendship. F/n knew that you were asking for them to tell you that your relationship with Legolas would last but they couldn't. No one could tell you that but Legolas himself.

"My father was right. I'm not meant for love.. or marriage." You said, looking back out the window with sadness evident in your eyes.

What neither of you two knew though, was this whole time Legolas was sitting outside your door, back pressed to the door with his own sadness in his eyes. He had heard everything and regretted getting so mad at you. It hadn't been your fault. But he was too afraid to go in there right now and tell you that. You were broken. Broken because of him.
